Thanks to Bennett, the ruthless crime lord whose vengeful mission forced the Bennett family into hiding has been brought down for good.Back in the city that never sleeps, Bennett takes over a chaotic Outreach Squad in Harlem, where he receives an unusual call: a man claims to have seen a group of well-dressed men holding a bizarre party in a condemned building. With no clear crime or evidence, Bennett dismisses the report. Disappointing

This series started so well, but seems to have gone downhill in the last 2 or 3 novels. For a start, the books are too short, so there's not time to develop a decent plot. Storylines are started and then rounded off fairly hurriedly, so no real suspense. Michael should be likeable, but to be honest he's just a bit too annoyingly perfect, half of the characters are more like caricatures and I've just stopped believing in it all. Shan't be bothering with another one...

Brill

Love MB-this was in the usual league-the love saga moves on between MB and MC.....(marginally!). MB moves into a new role -which is very amusing. Some story lines were quite serious, but over very soon? Seemed like a bit of an undeveloped "lazy" shocker? (What happens re: Chrissy and then Seamus?)

Entertaining but lacks depth

I enjoy the Michael Bennett series. James Patterson is an expert at writing these types of books. The writing was typical. However, the plot of this book was generally quite weak! There were too many different subplots and they were all poorly developed and ended abruptly. In light of the last couple of books, it's almost like the books in the Bennett series have shifted focus to the life of Michael Bennett with the plots no longer being the main focus of the stories. A bit disappointing. But I still like the character and the books continue to be entertaining simply from and action/excitement standpoint.

I still miss Bobby Cannevalo's voice. He has the real NY Bennett voice. Although Mastrogiorgio is a good narrator, he sounds too country/cowboy to be a life-long New Yorker.
