Taken from the first novel in this series, Ten Cents a Dance:

Griff, a one-time freight ship captain, now smuggles opium and Chinese women for prostitution into New York’s Chinatown. Chinatown’s boss, Mo China, is only allowed to keep his operation flowing from Griff’s deliveries by the say-so of a crime boss, Alvise LaPoshio.

Great 'cop' story

Although this is part of a trilogy series, it is a stand alone novel with action, suspense, murders, drug and human trafficking. Homicide Detective, Johnny Vero and his partner, Billy Bradshaw are busy following the trail murders committed in Chinatown, NYC that are piling up between the Chinese factions and the Mob. Fast moving page turner. Highly recommend.
