Publisher's summary

Will a hot-blooded, seven-foot-tall, scaly green alien meet his match in a feisty woman from Earth?

After losing her husband, Sadie is afraid of getting her heart broken again. On a dare, she signs up for the Extraterrestrial Matchmaking Service, and she's paired with Bryk, a seven-foot-tall, scaled alien from a distant world. At their first touch, a gleaming symbol appears on her palm. Bryk tells her it's a matebond, and she's his destined mate. He makes her pulse sing, but does she dare take a chance with someone new?

When Bryk applies for the Selection, he's matched with Sadie. At their first meet-up, his matebond ignites and now he'll do anything he can to win her heart. But Sadie has been hurt in the past and is afraid to trust. Refusing to admit defeat, Bryk talks her into giving him seven days to convince her she wants to stay. Bryk will need to pull out every Crakairian trick he can think of to win her heart.

Can two very different souls find love with each other on a planet far from Earth?

short but sweet

It's a good story but each is short enough I wish they were a bundle deal.

I really enjoy these books

Nice balance of adventure, love, humor and steamy scenes. This series is worth a listen if you enjoy alien romance

Nope

I liked the premise. 7 days to convince his alien Tinder match to agree to stay with him. But then it was just about the f-ing. His word, not mine. Repeatedly. Yes, he repeatedly said to the heroine that he wanted "a lot of fu@#ing."

And she was all for it. So romantic. 🙄

The best part of the ENTIRE BOOK was the son. He was so determined to get his Dad a mate. I loved him. But that was all I loved.

Side note. Clearly the author watched The Middle. Bryk, Axel, Weld. I see what you did there.

And the narration. {Runs hand across face.} The male narrator, aside from sounding like Rod Serling, was great. The female? While she wasn't monotone, she gave no different inflection or tone when something important was happening. In fact, when our heroine was being attacked by deadly birds, I was listening while folding laundry, and really thought it was supposed to be a funny scene. Ha! Birds are flying in her face. But, oh, no, this was an action part of the book. She really needed to infuse some emotion in her performance, not just read us a bedtime story.

Charming, feel-good, sexy, fun!

I love this series! Ava Ross writes characters and relationships that are so heartfelt and funny, with plots that are creative and interesting. I’d love to have her kind of imagination! Bryk & Sadie’s story is book 2 in the series. We get to see a little bit of follow-up on the couples from book 1, which was fun, and some transition that sets us up for the book 3. I feel the story was enhanced because I was already familiar with the Crakarian world, but it can easily be read as a stand alone. Everything about the first book was utterly delightful, with some good suspense and action, as well as romance. This one was also delightful, although there was a bit of angst as well. I didn’t mind it, though. I give it an enthusiastic 4.75 stars. It’s on my Repeat Listen Shelf. Worth the credit!

I Adore The Translation Mix-Ups

Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Heat Rating: 🔥🔥🔥
Narrator Performance: Female: 🎧🎧🎧🎧. 5 Male: 🎧🎧🎧🎧.5

BRYK is the second insta-lust Science Fiction Romance novel in Ava Ross’s humorous Mail-Order Brides of Crakair series. I’ve really enjoyed the series so far. One thing that I absolutely adore about these books is how Ross has handled the language translation issue. It’s funny and can even be charming. Another thing that I like about this series is that each book stands alone. Both of the main characters were introduced in the previous book but you don’t need to have read that story to know what’s happening in this one. Of course if you read/listen to them in order it will enhance your experience. Still another great thing that I’ve noticed by reading/listening to this series is that Ross creates characters that are likable. The reader can get easily invested in them and the story.

While the plot of BRYK was predictable it was filled with all sorts of fun stuff. We had flirty banter between the couple as well as some He-Man tactics. There were also sexy times and some action. The attraction between the MCs was undeniable. Bryk was a great guy who only wanted what was best for Sadie. Even if it lead him to make stupid choices. Sadie on the other hand showed that despite their size differences (😉 cute story involving Bryk’s son on this subject) she had the strength to handle both the new world she was on and to open herself up to another person again. Or in this case two people since she was getting both a husband and son in this deal.

Here’s where I feel the need to say what I found disappointing about this book. What mainly bothers me is that there were a few scenes where Bryk’s son is adamant that Bryk work out a relationship with Sadie. However we only really get one scene with him and her. I would have somehow liked to have gotten at least one other bonding moment/scene between potential stepmother and stepson. I was also felt let down by predictability of the plot. I immediately knew what the main conflict was going to be when the villain was first introduced.

Teddy Hamilton and Tawnia Murray both did fabulous jobs with the story. I really took pleasure in their performances. Although in truth I do wish that both of the narrators had put more effort into differentiating the different male and female secondary characters with voice changes. However I was pleased that Bryk’s son got his own voice.

Even better the second time!

These performers bring Sadie and Bryx to life in a delightful way. It's easy to hear the emotions and laughter especially in the female actors delivery. I enjoyed hearing a story I've read and loved before come to life during my work commute. I sometimes even sat in the parking lot longer than I should have to get to a good stopping point, lol. The story is lovely with elements of adventure, emotional angst, and life threatening action, as well as plenty of steam. it was a blast to listen to!

The story has feel hood moments and a little heartbreak towards the end. Great listen.

Cute story

I liked how they each lost someone and e acknowledged their loss and bonded over that. I would have liked to see a lot more of the little boy because his party were funny
