Publisher's summary

Meet the men of Manning Grove, three small-town cops and brothers, who meet the women who will change the rest of their lives. This is Max's story....

Big-city party-girl Amanda Barber has been spoiled most of her life. But life for Amanda suddenly becomes a major challenge: adapting to small-town life, dealing with her special needs brother, and constantly butting heads with a frustrating local cop.

As a police officer and former Marine, "responsibility" is Max Bryson's middle name. Never having been in a serious relationship, he has no plans for one in the near future. He likes being his own man. And even if he were interested in a serious relationship, he certainly wouldn't choose someone so immature and irresponsible as Amanda. But no matter how hard he tries, he can't get sexy Amanda out of his head or his heart. Watching her mature in front of his eyes, his protectiveness toward her only strengthens.

Bossy and possessive aren't the only words Amanda uses to describe this frustrating cop. She can't deny just looking at the man makes her tremble. But she's done with having anyone control her and this man isn't going to be any different. Or is he?

Note: This is a full-length novel and can be enjoyed as a stand-alone. No cliff-hangers, and it has an HEA.

Yes Officer

Amanda comes to town to take care of her brother who can’t live on his own after his mother dies. She is coming from a life of leisure a party girl who really don’t have any responsibilities.
She is really thrust into this new life with no safety net and I love how she just does what needs to be done.
She gets a lot of side eyes and people who don’t believe she can do it. I really didn’t like that part of the story especially coming from her love interest he says some underhanded things that made think of him as a dink!

Max is one of the local cops and he and Amanda run into each other a lot, he doesn’t want anything long term like at all. But he can’t stop coming around, something about Amanda has him all turned around.

This story was sweet and I loved that Amanda finds she has more grit than anyone expected even herself.

Greg is Amanda’s brother and he is the sweetest, he really steals the show. I can’t imagine what it was like for him to have his safe world turned upside down when not only his father passes but then his mother and he is now in the hands of his sister. Yes, he is excited she is there but he just doesn’t understand why his mom isn’t coming back. The one scene had me in tears.

I loved the narration how could I not, Ava Lucas is quickly becoming one of my favorite female narrators. She just brings these stories that extra special thing you want when you’re listening. Jason Clarke is a fantastic narrator so of course, I enjoyed his side of thing. :)

well written but

story was well written like others by the same author but the main characters relationship was very toxic in my opinion. emotionally abusive scenes between them were never resolved she just accepted the abuse and forgave him. I struggled to get through the book.

Amanda and Max!

When Amanda’s stepmother passes away she learns that as his only living relative she is responsible for her 22 year old special needs brother so she leaves her single lifestyle and cheating boyfriend behind in Miami for small town Pennsylvania. She is determined to succeed even if no one in town or her overbearing mother thinks that she can.

This was supposed to be a temporary move and she had plans to bring her brother back to Miami but the surprise was Police Officer Max Bryson, an ex-marine, and the sparks they set off in each other. Max is very attracted to her and respects her need to be independent and succeed on her own however a mistake could change everything.

The chemistry between Amanda and Max leapt off the pages and the combination of humor and the surrounding characters of Max’s family and Teddy were the icing on the cake. I thought the narrators did a great job at bringing the story to life especially when it came to her brother's voice.

Absolutely perfect!

I loved reading Max's book and listening to Jason Clarke bring Max to life was fantastic! Ava Lucas, as always, does a fabulous job throughout the book as well. I think Greg is my favorite though 😊.

Amanda comes to Manning Grove to take care of her half brother after his mother passed away. She had never met her brother Greg, who has special needs. Amanda then meets officer Max Bryson and the sparks fly! Another fan-freaking-tastic book from Jeanne St. James and a fabulous job by the narrators, Ava Lucas and Jason Clarke.

Love a man in uniform!

I read and loved this book originally and was so excited to hear the audiobook version! Jason Clarke and Ava Lucas did a fantastic job of pulling you right into the heart of the story! Amanda, is a woman torn from life as she knew it in Miami and moved to a small town to take on the biggest responsibility of her life. Max, is a set in his ways police officer in Manning Grove who meets his biggest distraction and match when it comes to Amanda. This is a story of compromise, growth, and breaking out of your comfort zone. Another wonderful story from Jeanne St James that have you ready and anxious to meet the rest of the Bryson Brothers!

Loved it!!

Loved the start of this series. The storyline and characters were great. Max and Amanda meet when she moves from Miami to take care of her brother. They have great chemistry from the start and Max, who isn’t looking for commitment, has to face that there is something more between them. Ava Lucas and Jason Clarke did a great job with the narration. Looking forward to more in this series.

Love this book

I absolutely love this book. This is a great story about Max and Amanda, the chemistry between these two are hot. Max and Amanda dislike each other from the start. Max is on the police force in his small town and Amanda comes to town when she has to take over care for her special needs stepbrother. This book had me all over the emotional scale, one minute I was laughing and the next I was crying.. So worth the ride. I highly recommend this book
