Thank you for hope!

Jenny shares her experience with depression, anxiety, and many other health challenges by articulating how it feels to be in the pit of depression but she always reaches for hope too. She reminds us throughout the book that good days will come again. She teaches us through her stories that perspective is important whether it’s lawn gerbils or hiding in the bathroom. Thank you Jenny for reasons to laugh after a year of reasons to cry. This book makes me laugh and cry and feel seen when I think no one else will ever understand me.

Reality at its best...

Thank you to Jenny for sharing her stories on mental health. To those who deal with similar issues, thank you for making us realize there’s humor and okay days ahead. To those who don’t, hope this book helps you realize how amazing everyone can be in their own way.

Absolute Gold

There is something about reading/listening to a Jenny Lawson novel. It’s hilarious and sad and uplifting and inspiring. I found myself laughing at parts normal people probably side-eye others for laughing at and out loud when strangers were near. And there are a few chapters of such wonder and beauty that I wanted to live in them for a little while longer.

I love reading her novels because I know I will never meet her in person and these little pockets of her life shared are enough to make me appreciate being an author myself and a fellow human being.

Laugh out loud at things that are not funny when you tell someone why you’re laughing

As always, Jenny Lawson describes the common, hard things in life in such a way that I laugh out loud. I appreciate the inane situations of my own life more, and can handle them with better humor when I hear her voice narrating my situations. Thank you for your humanity.

So wonderfully wonderful

Such a wonderful book! As someone who has struggled with physical and mental problems for years I can say this book really does show the beauty of being broken. I laughed until I cried. Then I cried until I started laughing again. Her books never fail to help get me through the dark times.
Thanks Jenny you're a life saver ❤️

A MUST read!

Funny, witty, real-this book has it all!! Hearing Jenny Lawson’s own voice reading about her trials & tribulations and normalizing mental struggles is just wonderful. My favorite quote is: “I am a magpie, but I am not alone.”

Just here for the last chapter

please be aware you make want to wear incontinence pants or liners at the least.
do not drink sugary drinks while listening or driving. It's really hard to get soda or coffee off of the windshield and dashboard. But the last chapter is one I keep listening to. it's the Best Miss America speech for the diversity of people and I love it.
