Here’s to breaking the rules

Aurora has lived her whole life as the good girl, following her parents rules. Until one night she decides to start breaking those rules because she feels like she’s been missing out on too much living up to someone else’s expectations. Landon lives his life by a strict set of rules to keep himself distanced and safe from emotional (or really any kind of) turmoil. When they meet in a bar, the connection is instant, and they both begin breaking their rules. This takes place over just a few days, the start of something. A lot is happening in their families, some bombshells are dropped, and they turn to each other to be an anchor. It’s a steamy start to a relationship that seems to have a lot more potential, but there are definitely barriers in place other than their rules. They’ve made the leap, and now I want to see if they will stick the landing. An enjoyable start to what’s sure to a sexy and emotional trilogy.

My only real issue, and it's not a deal breaker, but it's a distraction, is that the narrator is very much American, while the book is set in London, and there is a decent amount of British slang/terminology . It takes away a bit from the story when it's not told by a British accented individual. The narration is well done, it's just that lack of the accent that makes it occasionally a distraction.

Who Knew Breaking All The Rules Could Be So Fun?

Broken Rules by Hanleigh Bradley is a Contemporary Billionaire Romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Shelby Hughes.

This is the third book of Hanleigh’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. The story does end on a cliffhanger but that was no surprise since it’s the first book in The Rules Series. I cannot wait for the second book Enforced Rules to be released on audible.

Shelby did a good job on the narration. I liked that she used different voice/tones for the characters. The only thing I wished is that the narrator could have done the British accent for Landon.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Contemporary Romance, Billionaire Romance, or steamy Romances.

Mixed feelings

I was excited for a sexy Brit. I got an North American 12 year old boy.

The narrator should never have taken this job if she couldn’t do a British accent. If I were the author I would be very angry.

Shelby Hughes sounds pleasant and her female voice is great (other than it was not British). Her male voice needs work. I had trouble connecting with the male character as he sounded like a young boy. Nothing sexy about that.

The story itself was a little short. It could have used just a bit more in the details. I also don’t like cliffhangers and this ends on one.

The story interested me enough that I will get the next book.

I just hope we actually get a SEXY BRIT next time. Perhaps by adding a BRITISH male narrator!

rules

This was not bad , I was able to listen though it. One suggestion would be to find another narrator. She was good but sounded way to young, that's just my opinion. But she was ok and I am sure she would be a better fit in a YA. and I would listen 😊

Breaking the rules can be fun!

This is a wonderful story about stepping out of your comfort zone and finding romance. Landon And Aurora are delightfully likable and relatable, albeit very different. Aurora is innocent and inexperienced and Landon is a businessman and playboy. One thing they have in common is that they have always lived by certain sets of “rules” or guidelines. Aurora’s “rules” were instilled in her by her mother. Landon’s seem to be self-imposed. But rules can be pretty fun to break…. I’ll also add the chemistry between these to unlikely lovebirds is palpable. As far as the narration went, Aurora felt a bit young to me to play Aurora and I wished that Landon could have been played with a British accent or at least sound a bit more powerful. Overall, it was a really fun book to listen to. Well done, Hanleigh Bradley!

Good Girl Gone Bad!

I loved listening to Aurora and Landon breaking their own set of rules. A sizzling story with decent narration. Clear vocals with no background noise. The only reason I left off a star for performance is due to the lack of British accent for the male main character who is supposed to be "Sexy-as-hell, British billionaire CEO. He's seductive, downright naughty, and yet somehow, still a perfect English gentleman."
The story does end on a cliffhanger, however, I am excited to move on to the next book in the series since book 1 held my interest.

Rules

This is a cliffhanger series and this is book 1.

We get to know Aurora and her good girl obedient ways. She always follows her parents rules even though her sister does not. She doesn't know what has happened between her parents and her sister but knows there are secrets they are keeping from her. She decides to celebrate her friend coming back at a local bar and to start breaking the rules. She knocks out several the first night with the help of Landon.

Shelby Hughes does a pretty good job narrating this book. It would have been better if it had be a dual narration. Her female voice is good but male not so much.

This is a good story and if you don't mind cliffhangers you will enjoy it.
