I really enjoyed this book. This isn’t typically what I read but it was surprisingly hit and engaging. I like the characters a lot and look forward to seeing what happens next.

A New Twist

Aurora and Landon each have a specific set of rules that each reels they need to follow...until they meet. When their attraction is blocked by those sane rules, it is time to think about breaking them!

I enjoyed the storyline of Broken Rules: Hanleigh’s London, and look forward to the next book in this series, as there are still some questions that need to be answered.

I believe I will actually read this story by Hanleigh, as she has become a new and favorite author!

OK Book

The idea behind the story is very good but for me it just didn’t work out. The plot didn’t seem fully developed (not that I am a writer) but Aurora and Landon had great chemistry together.

I am not a fan of narrator Shelby Hughes. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

rules

This was not bad , I was able to listen though it. One suggestion would be to find another narrator. She was good but sounded way to young, that's just my opinion. But she was ok and I am sure she would be a better fit in a YA. and I would listen 😊

break some rules

One night Aurora makes a list with her friend of rules she wants to break. Little does she realize that in breaking just one, she may end up breaking even more. Landon lives by his own personal rules. Then he meets Aurora and she makes him question them.
This book is really good, I just wish it was longer... now I need the next one like right now

Rules are meant to be broken

Broken Rules by Hanleigh Bradley is the first novel by the author and the first novel in the Rules series.

Broken Rules follows Aurora Stone who has had enough living up to her parents' expectations and rules. So she decides with the help of her friend, Lou to write down all the rules Aurora wants to break. While at the bar, a handsome and mysterious guy stars at Aurora.

She throws caution to the wind and strikes up a conversation with the man. He too has a set of rules that he finds himself about to break. Landon Peters is the type of guy that doesn't let anyone in. He never dates a woman more than once. He never brings them home and he never calls them again. But instantaneously he finds the rules easy to break once Aurora is around.

Landon takes Aurora home and they both find it hard to resist the temptation. Aurora soon realizes that she might be in way over her head, but doesn't want to stop being with Landon.

I think the story was good. I personally liked the conflict that Aurora and Landon had with their respective families. Although they had only known each other for a time, they confide in each other. They take each other out of their comfort zone. Aurora and Landon are good together, even though they don't know what to describe what they are. They continue to break all the rules and enjoy doing it.

Broken Rules is sexy, intense, and fun. I can't wait to see what is in store for these two.

Self-Imposed & Parental Rules

Be it Landon's self-imposed rules or the rules set forth by Aurora's parents, these two set about breaking as many as they can.

Intimacy outside of marriage? ✔
Sleepovers? ✔
Dates? ✔
Feelings? Oh yeah. That's a ✔ ✔

It's an interesting story. I didn't like when the clock rolled back and we "relived" the moments from the other POV, especially when there wasn't much added to moving the story forward. Other than that, I like the story and characters and look forward to seeing what the next installment brings them.

When it comes to the narration, Shelby Hughes is good as Aurora but Landon's personality needed a deeper, more masculine voice.

great story but...

Pros
The book is overall well written with fully developed characters.

Cons
This would have been better with a londoner narration or accent instead of an american one. The narrator didn't fit the book style.

I have to say that I didn't care for the repeat of the same scenes from each of the characters pov. Normally I love that but it has to be done right and this author unfortunately didn't get it right with this book. Instead of enhancing the story experience it just made it feel repetitive and drawn out. I had to fight the urge to skip chapters or ahead.

I also found the virgin first time scene to be unrealistic. He was all crazy and rough her very first time and she loved it? and then no mention of blood or nothing? I feel like if he seen that she was a virgin and was all crazy rough with her he would be very upset with himself that moment right after. and because she was a virgin and it was her first time and he was super rough then there should have been blood.

Rules are meant to be broken!

Broken Rules, by Hanleigh Bradley, is the story of Landon Peters and Aurora Stone, both from similar families with similar backgrounds and wealth. Michelle Stone has ruled over her daughters in more ways than one. She has rules that have to be adhered to in order to stay safe and not risk losing her love and attention. She has already alienated her youngest daughter with her unbending demands and Aurora knows better than to challenge her. Landon Peters is a brilliant, sexy, billionaire CEO of his own company and lives by his own set of rules. He does not have time for love, but that's not to say that he is averse to bringing home a beautiful woman. She can't stay the night, but they can enjoy the evening. He's not looking for anyone, so that's not a problem...until he sees Aurora with her friends across the bar. Their attraction is immediate and it doesn't take long before they're leaving the bar together. Talk about breaking rules! That's exactly what they do, over and over again. It's funny, it's sweet, it's hot and it doesn't end! Landon has never broken so many rules in one day and he doesn't want to stop. They are perfect together and we watch as things become more and more serious. But Landon's father is dying and his mother has a secret that will shake him to the core. As the story ends, Landon is facing the fallout from his lunch with a guilty mother. Well-placed cliffhanger!
I listened to the audiobook and am very impressed with the narration. Shelby Hughes did a wonderful job bringing a distinct personality and voice to each character.

Breaking the rules can be fun!

This is a wonderful story about stepping out of your comfort zone and finding romance. Landon And Aurora are delightfully likable and relatable, albeit very different. Aurora is innocent and inexperienced and Landon is a businessman and playboy. One thing they have in common is that they have always lived by certain sets of “rules” or guidelines. Aurora’s “rules” were instilled in her by her mother. Landon’s seem to be self-imposed. But rules can be pretty fun to break…. I’ll also add the chemistry between these to unlikely lovebirds is palpable. As far as the narration went, Aurora felt a bit young to me to play Aurora and I wished that Landon could have been played with a British accent or at least sound a bit more powerful. Overall, it was a really fun book to listen to. Well done, Hanleigh Bradley!
