Publisher's Summary

In The Captive Series, the vampire king that decimated the human and vampire races was introduced, but now it’s time to meet the man who existed before he became a tyrannical king.

At 25, Atticus is the last surviving member of the most powerful line of vampires and is known as a prince among his kind. The life of luxury and privilege he’s always known is about to change in ways that he never could have seen coming though. Ways that will forever alter the course of his life, the lives of all those around him, and the history of the world.

With his life shattered and an all-consuming thirst for revenge the only thing keeping him going, he is left with only one realization - sometimes what rises from the ashes of a broken man is a monster.

Note: Though this book is a standalone novel, it is highly recommended that it not be listened to without listening to the first five books in The Captive Series first as it does contain some spoilers.

Least favorite of Series

This has been my least favorite of the series so far. It does explain why the king was so bitter and full of hate, but its sad that anyone could be driven so mad.

It was the best for far!

I didn’t want to read this one…. Story of Atticus. I didn’t want to learn about him. I didn’t think it would move me as much as it did. I really like it.

Great Read

This book was much better than expected. No spoilers in this review, but I will say this book gave me slight sympathy for a very unlikely person, despite everything. Not sure what that says about me now. 😆

I am now very curious to see how the rest of the series plays out with what was gleaned from 5.5. 🤔

OUTSTANDING WANT MORE!!!!!!!

This is an absolutely amazing and wonderful series of books and I listened to every single audiobook released in this series and anticipating listening to the next 2 titles written books 6 and 7. The narrator as always was excellent. This book and book 4 were my favorite if I had to pick because I from the very beginning along time ago loved the part where the king had the table of enemies alive but emaciated. Even, before that I loved the story line of there being bloodslaves and a beautiful love story and being able to feel as if your getting a look into the palace of vampires and the inner workings and how things work . I was so happy to find out that books 5 and 5.5 were all of a sudden being released after not hearing any more after book 4 so I am so thrilled to have found it and gotten to get back to the story after all that time. So go buy this book and even better you should start from the beginning with book number 1 so you can truly appreciate the story and understand everything. in this is a truly exceptional and lovely story from books 1 through 7 even though I have only gotten up to book 5.5 so get going and make the purchase and journey!:)
