As a teen I read “Der Ruinenbaumeister” and was an instant fan of this complex, extremely well-constructed and well-written. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find that work on audible. So I tried sone other works and this one instead.

Basically, the whole book is built on one idea. Not a bad one. But that’s not that the problem. The problem is that the author then goes on to use that idea to present his own, rather narrow-minded political and social views as the impressions of someone else. That’s basically what this book is.

And, it’s not done in any interesting way, style, or voice.

If you’re not a huge fan of Mr Rosendorfer, skip this one.

A conceit wearing thin and exposing reactionary views
