A great story!

Overall this story was great! The part in the story when an officer get "dressed up", was hilarious!!😂 In some way Emily was annoying, because she didn't just stay put! But big events wouldn't have taken place, if she would have just listened. A fun listen, I enjoyed it!😊

Great story, questionable narration accents

I enjoyed the intrigue and mystery in this story. However, the narrator left much to be desired with her accents. I did not particularly like the haughty accent given to Emily or the different accents given to the sailors and foreigners. It sometimes pulled me out of the story rather than enhancing the characterization.

Mystery at its Best

This is the first book from this author I have listened to. I could not put it down as I needed to know what was going to happen next.

Good story, but narration a bit too dramatic

The accents/voices used by the narrator were somewhat overly dramatic at times, which was distracting.

Good story, just a litle far out there.

Any additional comments?

Almost too much drama in the story, a little far-fetched.

Reader sounded in a panic most of the time, the main female character sounded major whiny most of the time, and the males voices sometimes sounded the same.

Good book and performance, but could have done without...

Good book and performance, but could have done without the loud music at the beginning, of the book , the end of EVERY chapter and the end of the book...if they wanted to put it at the beginning and end that’s one thing, but at the end of EVERY chapter was very annoying!
Otherwise a great listen!

Awe . . . a real honest to goodness love story!

I did not realize how much I had been missing a real love story without all the graphic sex until I listened to this. Could we have more of books like these? Really, all the sex scenes are getting a little old and it seems like each book must go further - although, I hardly know how that would be possible - I mean the plumbing nearly always works does it not?

Brentwood’s Ward

Good story. Loved the details. Enjoyed learning a bit of history along the way. I must say I really didn’t like the music in between. I kept thinking the story was over and that annoyed me. I was so involved in the story and then the music sounded. Yikes, don’t do that again.

Just an average story.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, I listen during commute time so even and average story is ok.

Would you be willing to try another book from Michelle Griep? Why or why not?

Probably not...her descriptions were a bit over the top

What aspect of Pam Turlow’s performance would you have changed?

Performance was fine

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Might watch it on DVD.

Action-packed and fun, but a little too much for me at times

While I enjoyed this action-packed story, there were a few things I did not enjoy. I never really came to like Emily, the main female character. I was really only rooting for her because I liked the main guy and he liked her so there was that. The other thing is that there are several scenes and descriptions of rape and near-rape that I found very disturbing that I think would prove to be triggers for some people so I want to put that caution out there. I listened to this book through Audible Escape; it is possible these scenes were more disturbing in audio form than they would be in print. I did enjoy the depictions of the Bow Street officers, especially the main character Nicholas, and I think that was my favorite part of the story.
