falling hard for his teammate's girl

This is the first part of Bella and Zander's love story. It started out as revenge but Zander fell hard for his teammate/rivals girlfriend.

But then the end 🤯💔 Instantly need to start the second book in the duet.

This book has a pretty good story. The characters are realistic. Good narration and the spice is a solid 4/5. There’s a villain (cheating and controlling boyfriend) And a hero, as well as a weak female lead who gains a backbone in the end. It’s an easy listen.

Could of been better

WTF!

WHAAAT!?!? This broad is stupid. But… I have to remember she thinks like this because it’s been drilled into her head for so long she believes it. She’s a victim of abuse and this is how they think. Only counseling will help her but how can she say “he’s my rock” and “we can get through anything with our love,” then throw it away! Xander is a patient MF! I’m speechless over this ending. I’m frustrated yet chomping at the bit to hear WTF happened! Narrators suck but the story kept me going.

Bad and unrealistic characters

Mainly the fmc. She makes terrible and stupid decisions just to move the plot forward. There are ways to write a victim without making her an idiot or infantile. I’m not victim blaming but so many of the decisions she makes are unrealistic.

It’s also a forgettable book if I’m being honest. Nothing stands out about either of the main characters. Her former boyfriend isn’t actually hard to leave at all in terms of loving her or treating her well. He’s no kicked puppy, so it’s not heart wrenching. He’s just unrelenting and abusive and bc he’s high profile and she has bruises as proof of his abuse she could have used his career as serious collateral. Brings us back to the fact that the angst was forced and based on the fact that the fmc was just stupid. There’s literally nothing else that gives suspense or tension. If you took out the unbelievable plot line then there’s nothing. The author built a big pile of nothing
