first Audible book... better than expected!!

Would you listen to Breaking Measures again? Why?

I would definitely listen to this story again. It was a definite refresher from always reading on my kindle. I listened to it in my car on my way to and from work or the store, my boyfriend rarely reads books and I got him listening and enjoying the book even though it wasn't his typical type of story.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved that the narrated story wasn't anything like I thought it would be. Since it was my first Audible book I wasn't completely sure what was to be expected and thought that it would be in a monotone voice and it would just drag on and on. Dang was I wrong. The narrator was awesome, the story was extremely well written. This genre wasn't one I've read a lot of but it still caught (and held) my interest and full attention.

Emma Raveling does it again!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, definitely! A gritty whirlwind story that matches the tempo of the city it's set in. Emma Raveling does it again! This prequel novella to A Woven Silence left me as all her works do—greedy for more.

Had its ups and downs

At first I couldn't get in to this story because I know nothing about music but I gave it a chance. I find it amazing what a bribe/money can buy. To think the star of this book would be nowhere if her own mother had not bought her future. All in all it was a good book but at times I had a hard time understanding some of the characters due to the readers interpretation of said characters accents.

Waiting for More...

Any additional comments?

I'll start out by saying this isn't my "usual" type of novel. I enjoy character development which you don't tend to get in stories of this length - that was not the case with Breaking Measures though. I particularly like mysteries where you just cannot predict the ending ahead of time and, in that regard, I was not disappointed. I never would have guessed the killer ahead of time - they weren't even on my list of mental suspects! I felt that Leila's character was well developed and the story kept a nice pace. I'm left wanting to know more about several characters and relationships - especially Leila and Orion but also some of the other minor characters as well. Even though the plot was closed up well and doesn't feel unfinished, I still find myself wanting more and can't wait for A Woven Silence.I listened to the audio version of this book and feel that the narration by Rebecca Roberts was great - she did accents for some of the characters and the tones that she used really brought characters to life and it was easy to differentiate who was speaking at all times.***I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Blast.

A thrilling suspense novel...

I loved this book. It had me on the edge of my seat at some times and at other times, I was going thru my head wondering who done it! This book is well written and holds lots of thrills, suspense and drama. This turned out to be a great mystery in my opinion. I was glad to see a happy ending too.

The author, Emma Raveling did a great job writing this book. The material is original. As hard as I tried to guess who the killer was, I was wrong every time. The main character Leila Cates was in lots of danger too. The narrator, Rebecca Roberts did a great job delivering the story to us. I felt she delivered the book clearly and smoothly. I loved the different voices she used. Even the accents are believable! Good job ladies!

Music, Murder, Mystery and Intrigue.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Most definitely. The writing is artful. The plot is carefully woven. The characters are intricately drawn. It is a delight to listen to. The style reminds me of Jodi Picoult's "The Tenth Circle."

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, this book is not at all predictable. Leila Cates finds herself the main suspect in her boyfriends murder after finding him in bed with someone else and publicly fighting with him. As the situation unravels, it keeps getting worse. You cannot stop listening.

Have you listened to any of Rebecca Roberts’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but I certainly will in the future. She gave an excellent performance.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Just when she thought her life was perfect, it blew up.

Any additional comments?

This is sophisticated work of art. I highly recommend it. I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.

Really good read

Would you consider the audio edition of Breaking Measures to be better than the print version?

I love to read books but I commute to work each day so audio books are my favorite.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Leila was my favorite character because she was so real to me. I felt as if I knew her.?

Which character – as performed by Rebecca Roberts – was your favorite?

All of them! Rebecca is amazing in that she can do male voices without sounding fake. She has a wonderful voice and makes listening so much more enjoyable.

I laughed out loud several times while listening.
