Publisher's summary

Hope Montoya knows someone is poisoning her, but who? She suspects her mother was also poisoned and knows her father was murdered. Who wants her family eliminated? She vows to fight! She realizes she won't last the eight months until she turns twenty-five and her uncle no longer controls her or her estate. Never will she be dominated by a man as she was by her father, as she has seen her mother and grandmothers dominated. If she marries, she gains control now, but only if she weds a man she can trust. Only one man meets her requirements. Can she trust him to protect her and capture the killer…but then to leave?

Micah Stone has been in love with Hope since the first time he saw her. But he was accused of her father's murder and surely would have hung if not for his two brothers' aid. Most in the community still believe him guilty. But the drought has him too worried about water for his dying cattle to care about his neighbors' opinions. When Hope proposes a paper marriage in exchange for land on the Brazos River and much needed cash, her offer rubs his pride raw. His name may be Stone, but he's not made of it. He can't refuse her for long, and so their adventure begins.

Sweet Western Romance

Whenever I get the opportunity to review an author that's new to me I jump at the chance especially if it's a historical romance.

This is the first book in the trilogy of the Men of Stone Mountain. This story focuses on the brother, Micah and his love interest Hope. I enjoy books with a good story and this one delivered an interesting plot, well developed characters, and a sweet western romance. The suspense and mystery in this story added depth and intrigue. The narration was very clear and she did a great job with the accents.

If you enjoy Western Romances definitely give this one a try. I'm off to listen to book 2.

I would like to thank the author, narrator, or publisher for providing me this audiobook at no cost in exchange for my unbiased review courtesy of Audiobookboom.

Excellent Story

This book was given in exchange for an honest review via audiobook boom
I throughly enjoyed this story. The Stone brothers are some extraordinary men. This is a break from the traditional telling of stories about bothers usually it starts with the oldest then goes down the line but this is the youngest story. The borthers are trying to help him save his ranch after coming to town to help stop the town hanging him. The daughter of the man he is accused of killig not only testified for him but turned to him when she realized she and her family were being targeted by a killer. First her mother then her father and now her. The brotherrs do what they can to protect her and she hatches a plan of them being married to keep anyone form her land. But the story takes several twists and turns before comeing to a satisfying ending. The narrator was right for the story and she moved it along very well. Can't wait to read book two. The first chapter is included in this book and it is just as interresting as this one is. Worth the credit.

Sweet Surprising Suspense

Intrigued by the summary of this book, I decided to invest in the almost 8 hours it would take to listen to this story and I'm glad I did. I enjoyed Hope's spirit and love for her family and land. Her passion for life made her character someone I wanted to get to know better and the author didn't disappoint. The whole story developed at a pace I found easy to follow without getting bored. There was always something being revealed about Micah, his brothers or Hope's family, but the twists and turns during the second half were a big surprise.
The attraction and longing between Micah and Hope was nothing short of endearing and I waited, almost patiently, to see if they would get beyond their pasts and see what was in front of them.
I thought Valerie Gilbert did a great job with the voices of the different characters. I had no problems distinguishing one from the other and her timing was spot on.
Altogether it was a very enjoyable listen.

A good mystery

4 star review of Brazos Bride (Men of Stone Mountain #1) by Caroline Clemmons
I listened to this book on audible and was invested right from the start and I felt that the narrator did a good job. Two of my favourite genres are mystery and romance and this was a good mix of both.
This was a a book filled with secrets and lies. The intrigue and suspense, not to mention the danger kept me on the edge of my seat as I listened to this story.
Many believe that Hope Montoya is loosing her mind as she is convinced that someone is poisoning her. He father was murdered and her mother died from a “wasting disease” so perhaps it is only natural that she is paranoid? Or is she? Is the danger real or all in her head?
Not knowing who she can turn trust, she turns to the man who was accused of killing her father, Micah Stone to keep her safe and protect her.
The characters were great and the storyline had a lot of twists and turns.

Wow 5 star listen

This blurb caught my eye and I had to get it and listen to it. This was a great start to the series. And once I saw that Valerie was the narrator it was a double bonus. Valerie voice was clear , strong and all the parts were perfect

This is a listen about murder , mystery and a thriller . The story was like a puzzle, that slowly the pieces were being revealed.

Hero is Mich . Heroine is Hope

Hope needs help but she doesn’t know who to turn to . Hope knows that someone is out to murder her . Hope also knows that everything that has happened to her family someone was was involved. She now suspects that her mother was murdered (through poison. . Her father was murdered but she now suspects from someone with a motive . Hope also suspects that she’s slowing being poisoned also . But why ?
She has nobody to turn to but for the man suspected with murdering her father .

Mich is the one suspected with murdering Hope father but he is acquitted but it takes the townspeople a lot to believe it . . His cattle is dying of thirst . There is only one river and he knows he needs to go through Hope land . Mich is wondering how Hope will react . Mich gets a surprise when Hope answers him .

How does she answer him. Grab it and see . Do they find the culprit .

Great Read!

Hope knows that someone is trying to kill her, but who? Her mother just recently died under unnatural circumstances and now Hope is the sole heir to the family ranch. She must do one of two things. Survive until her twenty-fifth birthday or get married. Since she doubts she will see her next birthday, she "hires" a bodyguard by marrying Micah Stone, the very man who was acquitted of murdering Hope's father. What a strange web life weaves.

Micah has loved Hope ever since their first dance, but Hope's father rejects Micah as good marriage material. Now, Hope needs help but there is no one to keep her safe, so when asked, Micah jumps at the chance to be Hope's husband. The question is will this be a marriage of "protection" or will Micah be able to woo his wife? And will he be able to protect his wife from the person who is bent on destroying Hope and her ranch?

I really enjoyed this book by Caroline Clemmons! It was fast paced and a great listen. Valerie Gilbert did a great job narrating this book.

Note: This book has one intimate scene for those who would like to know.

I live the men of Stone Mountain

I read this book when Caroline Clkemmons first released it, and I loved it [and gave it 5 stars]. Listening to it tonight was like listening to a new book. When reading I sometimes miss or misread some part and have to reread it. Listening helps you hear what the author meant. This is the story of Hope Montoya and Micah Stone. Hope thinks she is being poisoned and turns to Micah for help. I recommend this book highly.

This story was alright.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I'm not sure. I don't really feel I was every a part of the story, if you know what I mean. It didn't really draw me like others typically do.

What about Valerie Gilbert’s performance did you like?

Big fan of Valerie Gilbert! I’ve listened to many of her audiobooks and have enjoyed the majority of them. She’s great with accents! But for whatever reason Valerie said ‘runed instead of ‘ruined,’ there were a few others word that were mispronounced.

Any additional comments?

I found it strange that Hope didn’t have a Spanish accent when everyone in her family does. Also that Eduardo didn’t have an accent or know how to say certain Spanish words when his parents both speak Spanish.
