When uptight missionary Lucy Boyd is injured, her only ride to the hospital 200 miles away is the scary-looking guy who delivers their supplies every two weeks. Not only is he scary, he's obviously quite heathen based on the earring in his ear, the heavy metal music blasting from his truck when he pulls into the compound, and his salty language. Jed Gorman doesn't like people, especially Christians. The last thing he needs is that uptight missionary woman as a passenger.

Good set of stories
I got this book via audiobook boom. This book was four stories of young ladies who strove for independence and love during the turn of the twentieth century. The men that they met and fell in love with had mothers who wanted to choose their brides but they chose someone who was just right for them and each had to go against their parents and marry the one they loved not the one someone else thought was suitable for them. Both women and men were strong of character and faith. The narrator was very good and added to the story.

Sweet Historical Romance
Three Rings for Alice
By Lisa J. Rickel
I guess I'm mostly confused about this book. Several friends attempt to pair off, while one of each couple is not interested and refuses the relationship. It reminded me a bit of high school when couples exchanged partners frequently. I don't really know what the book was supposed to be about though.
I did enjoy the narration though.
Forgiven
By Paula Mower
A delightful story about forgiveness and God's plan for your future! The mother seemed a bit wishy washy, but otherwise there's nothing to improve upon, except the multiple repetition of the forgiveness Bible verse. I really enjoyed the narration!
The Pocket watch
By Katleen Rouser
I loved this story! It had a couple of twists I didn't expect! I really like the narration on this one! Her soft voice really captured the orphaned girl's demeanor!
Flames of Hope
By Teena M. Stewart
A bit shorter than the others, this is a beautiful story of hope when your world is completely turned upside down. Set in the renown time of the San Francisco fires, this couple find love in the strength of each other and in their deeper faith in the Lord!

All 4 books are great
I loved all 4 books. The last was sad at parts, but that is to be expected since the time and place where it takes place. This was a great to listen to. The narrator, Rebecca Winder, did a great job for all these books.

Sweet stories
This is a collection or sweet stories about the turn of the century in the US. Nothing particularly offensive happens so you can feel comfortable listening without headphones with little ears around. However sweet and nice the stories were though, they didn’t hold my attention. I found myself confused a lot, and I’m not sure if that was due to my mind wandering or characters not being explained well. The narrator does a great job, she is especially good at southern accents which is quite fun. Overall, a nice, comfortable listen when doing chores with kiddos around.

Sweet Historical Romances
Any additional comments?
Brave New Century is four clean romances centering around strong, independent women at the turn of the twentieth century. Each story has a different author but the collection is all narrated by one person. This was a very enjoyable listen, with solid narration by Rebecca Winder. I would recommend Brave New Century.

Brave New Century
Brave New Century
: Lisa Lickel, Paula Mowery, Kathleen Rouser, Teena Stewart
These four historical fiction novellas each have their own settings and characters. They are all sweet, clean romances that feature female protagonists developing into
strong women as the 1900's begin. All of the authors are new to me and I will look for other works by them.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed by Rebecca Winder.

I loved it! Would highly recommend!
Any additional comments?
This has four separate story based on the turn of the century. I wasn't expecting much but I was surprised to find that I really liked it. I wanted to finish listening to it in one sitting that's how good it is.
In each story the characters and plot is different. There were twist in a few of them, suspense, intrigue, romance (of course), friendships and family.
The book isn't perfect. Some of the females views tend to be more modern for that time period and because they are short stories there is no character build up. I would have liked to know a bit more about some of the characters. But even with these negative views I still love it and gave it five stars.
I would recommend this to everyone since it is a clean/sweet read which is suitable for all.
