Kurt Wilhelm (1923-2009) war ein deutscher Regisseur und Autor. In München und Berlin aufgewachsen, besuchte er nach der Schule das Max-Reinhardt-Seminar in Wien. Nach ersten Rollen am Burgtheater und am Theater in der Josefstadt 1942/43 ging er ans Schauspielhaus Stuttgart, wo er sowohl als Schauspieler, Dramaturg als auch in der Regieassistenz tätig war. Anfang 1944 wurde er von der Gestapo verhaftet, da er sich in einem Brief kritisch über den Nationalsozialismus geäußert hatte. Nach seiner Entlassung wegen Haftunfähigkeit führte Wilhelm ein Wanderleben und zog 1945 nach München, wo er den Aufbau des Bayerischen Rundfunks mitprägte. Für den Hörfunk entwickelte und inszenierte er beliebte Sendungen wie "Die Brummelg'schichten". Ab 1953 arbeitete er für das neu gegründete Fernsehen in Freimann. Hier entwickelte er richtungsweisende Fernsehformate, adaptierte Bühnenstücke, Shows und Operetten. Sein größter Publikumserfolg war die Theaterfassung der 1871 von seinem Ururgroßonkel Franz von Kobell geschriebenen Erzählung "Der Brandner Kasper und das ewig' Leben", die 1975 am Münchner Residenztheater uraufgeführt wird (im gleichen Jahr auch als Buch erschienen). Kurt Wilhelm fühlte sich stets auch zum Schreiben hingezogen. Seine schriftstellerische Tätigkeit umfasst Romanen, Erzählungen, Essaybänden, Bühnenstücken, Drehbücher sowie eine grundlegende Biographie über Richard Strauss.
