Publisher's Summary

Sergeant Ash Denton and her wife, forensic psychiatrist Lana Denton, are baffled when wealthy, beautiful women in their town are targeted by a vicious serial killer. Only in fiction books are law enforcement officers allowed to work one case at a time. Follow Ash and Lana as they work cases involving an internet pedophile ring, drug cartels, and prostitutes while trying to stem the flow of dead bodies left behind by the serial killer. Ash is accustomed to dealing with murder and death, but she learns the true meaning of fear when the serial killer targets Lana, the woman who makes Ash’s life worth living.

Great listen.

This book was well written. It has a good plot and twists and turns in it that the ending was a surprise to me. Another great book by Erin Wade.

Suspenseful

Another great story by Erin Wade. All of her couples are so smart, beautiful and loving. I like the way she builds a love scene and just lets you imagine the rest it very hot. Having Victoria Mei narrating is a major bonus. She has an amazing insight into the characters and her voice is to die for. Erin has quite the imagination for evil crime scenes it’s chilling.

Interesting but extremely busy

The book’s named after a particular case, which is where the story begins with a handful of MC’s that seem to be the focus. But like a quarter of the way into it all suddenly all these other side characters suddenly take center stage & introduced with multiple other cases while the main one is still happening somewhat in the background. While I found each set of characters & the occupant of criminal cases interesting, it was a tad bit too busy for my liking. It started getting difficult to follow. I listened to several chapters twice bc the pace changed so quickly I got confused about where it was all leading...& more than once it didn’t seem to actual lead anywhere, it was just a side story thrown in the mix for whatever reason. It was kinda like five books mashed into one. This is my first Erin Wade book so I’m not sure if this is commonplace for her or just this particular story. I feel like it could’ve been turned into a series of multiple books where each of the couples & their stories could’ve been developed individually more thoroughly. If it was spread out I might’ve enjoyed it more. I found it interesting but just very difficult to follow & absorb. Victoria Mei did excellent job though as per usual. I gave 4 stars overall in large part because of her performance & just the intriguing factor of the creative stories within the book.

Another great book by Erin Wade

Loved the characters and being born and raised in Fort Worth where the story takes place made it nice to hear the local streets and restaurants on the story. Also a few famous names from the area. Only draw back for me was the narrative- it sounded like she was from the east coast with that accent and the way she ended her words.
