Tough subject well done

What a frustrating story. No answers after 10 long years.
I can understand why no arrests have been made because of the Double Jeopardy rule but I can't imagine what this child's parents have gone through. It seems obvious what happened but I have a feeling this case will go unsolved. Being a Mom and now a Nana this story gave me chills.
The author also touches on several other cases of abductions which added interest and comparison to this case.


Narrator did an excellent job with difficult subject matter. I've listened to her before and she has a very good way of telling a story.
Very compelling and I couldn't stop listening once I started.

I live in Oregon and have followed this story all along. I learned some things that I had not heard before but, the book (I hate to say it) drags on.

It started out pretty good and if you don't know the story you should get this.

Towards the end of the story, it was repetitive and some useless information was added.

All in all, the narrator was good and it does tell the story of Kyron, which all of Oregon is aware of.

If you like true crime then I would give it a whirl.

Informative

Plenty of research and time went into the creation of this book, obvious by the quality of every chapter.

The search for Kyron Horman has spanned over ten years. Ten years and the parents still have no answers. I can’t imagine going through something like this. This book carefully covers all the aspects of the Kyron Horman case, including other cases that had an impact such as the Casey Anthony trial.

Narration fit the book.

Excellent Overview of a Tragic Case

First off, I'm required by law to state that I received a free copy of this audio book in exchange for my unbiased review.

This is the 2nd book I've read by this author and read by this narrator and I would read/listen to their work again. It's frustrating to have no closure, but the author does a really good job of covering the facts of the case and shedding light on the Kyron Horman disappearance and the field of no body cases. I would recommend!

Gripping. Heart breaking. Thorough.

I knew about Kyron but not to this extent. I remember news in 2010 about him, etc. This book is very thorough and answers pretty much all the questions we as mothers, were likely asking silently while watching the news. It really puts things into perspective and gives you a different understanding than only the media was able to provide. I truly hope this mama gets her justice. I truly hope Kyron gets justice. Definitely a good book, and highly recommend.

Sad subject, great research

Great legwork done on this awful situation, I wish there was some resolution to the case so it wouldn’t have to end with so many unanswered questions and such a sinking sense of despair.

One super minor thing I noticed…the little bit of research I’ve done on this story, all sources but this book refer to Teri and Kane’s daughter as ‘Kiara’ not ‘Kayla’. Just curious what is correct. Again crazy minor thing to notice and certainly not relevant to the major focus or urgency of the subject matter…just something I noticed.

Beautifully Told

As with all Rebecca Morris's books Boy Missing is beautifully written and well researched. She has a gift for making the reader feel as though they are right there in the center of everything. She always writes with respect and honesty for the victims and their families in a caring manner. This book tell so much more than you have heard or previously read and answers some of those questions that seemed to linger after hearing about this beautiful little boys disappearance and his family. It is a must read for any true crime fan or anyone who enjoys non fiction but especially for those who were so touched by Kyrons story. I have read several of Ms Morris's books and have never been disappointed. She always does a wonderful, respectful job. The narration by Lee Ann Howlett is very well done.

Sad story but needs to be told

This is a very sad story. I hope someday Kyron’s family gets the answers they deserve.
The writing was a bit repetitive at times. I found myself rewinding on occasion and then wondering if I’d gone too far because it was the same detail I’d heard before.
Overall I liked it (if you can like a story like
this) because I did not know of the story before. :(
It opened my eyes to how these cases are handled and the frustration for the families!

Listened twice to make sure I didn't miss anything

I am an Oregon resident and have heard about missing child over the years, being a mother myself I couldn't imagine not knowing where my child was for years on end. God bless you, and your strength.

An incredible retelling of a terrible tragedy.

As a mom of a child named Kyran close to the same age as Kyron Horman, and also from Grants Pass, OR and living in the PNW when this tragedy happened, this account of what transpired brought me to tears over and over, and touched me deeply. Because of the interviews with Kyron's family, especially his mom Desiree, you are able to get insight into things not found in press releases and articles. I could feel Desiree's despair and heartbreak.

This book was a powerful retelling of the events that changed this boy and his family's life forever. Desiree is an incredibly brave and resilient mommy, and I pray that one day, Kyron makes it home to her, and she is given the peace she deserves.

JUST SAD

Really well written and well read with good research. Sad and frustrating though with no happy ending.

10 years and still no answers

I can’t believe it’s been a bit over 10 years since the disappearance of 7 year old Kyron. This is a case I was following at the time but lost track of and Boy Missing is a great book that brought me right up to date with the developments in Kyron’s case. The book is long but doesn’t seem tedious and it’s only the second audio book I own that I “couldn’t put down” and carried on listening to it while driving. Boy Missing follows Desiree Horman’s journey of heartbreak starting when she found out her little boy went missing from his primary school during a science fair and details the suspicious behaviour of Kyron’s step mother. I loved the book, as painful as the story is, and Lee Ann Howlett did it justice with an excellent narration from all points of view. I can only hope Kyron can get justice.
