Publisher's summary

Dear Mr. Brisken,

How do I hate you? Let me count the ways.

I hate your smug, sexy millionaire face. I hate your cocky, skirt-chasing, playboy ways. I hate working as your secretary - but, I love the pay. It almost makes dealing with you worth it.

I hate how my friends call you a BILF, when really BILK (Boss I'd Like to Kill) is more appropriate.

I hate that I need you to be my date for my best friend's wedding because my ex-boyfriend, the King of Heartbreakers, and his new busty blonde girlfriend will be in attendance.

But mostly, I hate how once the charade is over, I might not hate you at all...it was so much easier when you were the Boss I Loved To Hate.

I am so sad I used a credit on this. the story was fine. the female narrator was fine, but the male narrator was so annoying that I just couldn't continue. he sounded like a drunk robot with motion sickness.

Fantastic Story & Narration🎧 A Heartfelt Delight!

I loved this book, it was a delight to listen to from start to end. This is my first Mia Kayla book and it will not be my last. I enjoyed her writing style and the original storylines she created, they are interesting and captivating. Once I started the book I did not want to put it down. Her characters are realistic and well developed. I adored Sonia from the start, how she stayed true to herself and spoke what was on her mind. It was hysterical how she vented her anger when her boss pissed her off, labelling him a BILK, badmouthing him to her friends and family and while playing darts. When Sonia finds out her ex is invited to her friends wedding she needs to find herself a date to show him she moved on. After coming to the rescue for Brad and his niece she asked him in return for her help he has to help her, be her date for the wedding. Sonia starts to see the human side of Brad and she finds he is not as much of an arse as she thought. Brad, who had already determined being a player with the woman is not cutting it for him any more. Sonia shows him how much of an arse he was to her, he finds out everything she said about him including her dart playing. He is a good sport about it all and starts to look at Sonia in a new light. I loved how their story played out, their love of their family playing a big part of their lives to him showing her that her exes’ girlfriend was not an upgrade. These two were really good for each other. Too bad their was a clause in her contract stating no sexual relationship can happen. I highly recommend this slow burn, office romance with a side of humor, there is plenty of drama, great humor, some angst, twists, heartfelt emotions and sweet romance. Thank you Mia Kayla for this great story.

I listened to the Audible edition, Sarah Puckett and Alex Kydd are wonderful narrators. They brought these characters to life, gave each their own voice and personality. Each did an amazing job projecting the emotions of the characters in their performance as well as the drama of the story. Sarah’s Sonia was awesome, you could hear her strength and conviction, great keeping up with the banter and landing the humor. Alex, did a great job humanizing Brad. Thank you for this greatly entertaining listen🎧

Just couldn’t do it

The male narrator ruined it for me, had to quit after chapter 2. Wasted a credit on this but was able to download the kindle book and finish the story

Dnf

Wanted to quit in the first chapter that Alex Kidd narrated. I’m not sure what his issue is but he sounds like a high off his butt surfer that may be a tool short in a toolbox. I tried but I just couldn’t. As for the female narrator she was great but the character was a total biatch from the beginning. I know the idea was to show that she had the worst boss ever, but in order to do that you have to start with him and show what he does to earn that title. Since the sorry bypassed that part and started with her.. it made the character sound like a whinny biatch that is complaining about her job. The things she is complaining about are normal job descriptions things so as a reader I’m annoyed with her from the beginning and not him. Fail
Fell asleep a few times and don’t even care to go back and listen to the parts I missed.
Story done before and done better.. listen to Plus One by Aleatha Romig.. you will be happier for it. Requesting my credit back

Great Fenale Narrator

Sara is a great narrator. She adds a touch of sexiness to the reading that makes is very easy to listen.

It was a struggle to finish

I listen to a lot of books and enjoy when there is a female and male narrators. Have to say, the male narrator in this book made it nearly impossible to finish this book. His voice is like a creepy……Would have been so much better with a different male narrator. Definitely won’t be listening to any other books he is reading.

Excellent!

Such a great story! The writing and dialogue are fantastic - nothing cheesy here!! I thought romance progressed at an appropriate rate as well. Not too fast. I liked the narrators, although it’s not Alex Judd’s best work. Very choppy on this one. Sarah Puckett did a great job.

Loved the story...but

I was just going to leave Stars but couldn't. Loved the story, but the male lead was awful. I do a lot of driving so I listen in the car. Tried speeding up the dialog for him but had to turn it down for her part. Haven't starred book 3 yet. Hope he isn't in it, but I'll still complete it if he is.

OK read

I only had a few problems with this book. I would have liked a little more show then tell, when it came to why Sonia hated Brad so much. I think that's one of the main reasons I found her attitude towards Brad annoying and I couldn't connect with Sonia very much.

Good read

The story was great. Loved the hate to love romance. Found the male voice hard to listen too. Not the voice you vision for the character. Sounds like rocky balboa

Sweet story

I just love Charles's kids, Sarah and Mary. Little Mary is super cute. Sarah is mature and caring. The chemistry between Brad and Sonia is sizzling hot. I love the character growth Brad went through.

3 stars

I usually love a good enemies-to-lovers story and a fake relationship element but despite the fantastic vocal performances by Sarah Puckett and Alex Kydd, this just didn't hit the mark for me.

Seriously, someone needs to put Mary up for adoption, that kid and everyone's obsession over her, got on my nerves.

It goes a bit like this, boss man is a bit of a player, the secretary calls him the BILK- boss she would love to K.ll. She needs a date to a wedding (to save face and avoid ex-boyf drama) and hes the helpless uncle having a crisis over his growing nieces coming of age milestone needing a babysitter. The solution? Blackmail the desperate boss into being her date. Of course now the dude realizes that she's "not like other women" and wants more.

Express train to cheesy intalove with Sonia and Brad.

It's a good stocking filler or palette cleanser but overall not very memorable.

Mediocre

Predictable storyline. Performance wooden and unimaginative reading with no warmth in the voices. Only made it to the end because a friend had read it and I wanted to be sure I could honestly tell her what I thought. Not worth the listen.

Great listen, but will be returning

I love the story, although at times it seemed like he was way more in love than she was. The male readers voice for me was unfortunately uncomfortable to listen to but I push through. ...like I said great story but will be returning as my experience on a whole wasn't the best.

Loved this book! Not a fan of the narrators, but loved the story nonetheless. Alex Kydd’s performances are better in later production years.

Love it!

Good stuff first, if you love romcoms with quirky back and forth banter this is for you!
Some of the scenes I just loved and giggled and gushed! Also great narration!
The narration did take a couple chapters to get used to but I enjoyed it by the end. Also I listen on 1.40-1.75 speed. I just prefer most of these to be faster and it makes it better in my opinion.
---potential vague spoilers---
Now for the Nitty gritty, she was a bit annoying and to be honest I did not think she deserved him and actually thought she was too sensitive at times. If I did someone a favour and then they bought me coffee and my favourite doughnuts damn! I'd be so grateful!
She told everyone and I mean everyone.. how aweful he was because she did her job and he didn't always say thank you? Jeez needy much. Yes she did a few things out of her job description but again she could have said no? If she was really upset there is HR but no she bragged to everyone how aweful he was. He wasn't aweful at all, he just wasn't always polite as running a business can be stressful. She was annoying but BUT her drunk she's pretty funny and I loved their interactions at the wedding. Brad was my favourite character and he did so much for her, he was definitely under appreciated and deserved better.

I so loved this story, the banter between them. I loved the sense of strong family support around them. But most just loved his pursuit of her. Amazing.
