Publisher's summary

The richest bachelor in England plays matchmaker…for an heiress he wants for himself!

For beautiful, witty Lavinia Gray, there’s only one thing worse than having to ask the appalling Parth Sterling to marry her: being turned down by him.

Now the richest bachelor in England, Parth is not about to marry a woman as reckless and fashion-obsessed as Lavinia; he’s chosen a far more suitable bride.

But when he learns of Lavinia's desperate circumstances, he offers to find her a husband. Even better, he’ll find her a prince.

As usual, there’s no problem Parth can’t fix. But the more time he spends with the beguiling Lavinia, the more he finds himself wondering…

Why does the woman who’s completely wrong feel so right in his arms?

The best EJ novel to date!

EJ is hit or miss for me. I didn't like the previous novel in this serious, but I LOVED this one. The banter and chemistry were perfect. Excellent narration as well.

Brilliant Book

Listening to this lovely book made me fall more deeply in love with the Wilde family. Parse and Lavina's story is enriched by character's from the earlier books in this series and by taking place in the bosom of the Wilde family.
Parse and Lavinia are such interesingt people and the author brought them to life by their intelligence, wit, self effacement and their search to be true to themselves and to each other.
Every aspect of the book from descriptions of clothing, the environment, the character's family back ground, to pacing and dialog are pure Eloisa James. She never disappoints with her wit, historical perspectiver and her well placed references to Shakespeare
I was incredibly touched by Aunt Noh's character and the depth of her relationship to the main characters. The scene s with the tapestries brought tears to my eyes.
The narrater was superb! Her voices for the different characters was perfect. Her story telling was so talented that at times I felt that I was watching the story unfold on a British stage.
I will remember think this book and the Wilde family for years to come.

I just couldn’t take it!

I am calling it quits at chapter 16. I keep speeding the book up and up trying to get to a place where I’m interested, but at 1:20x speed, I’m just done. I think part of the problem is this is my first in the series and its definitely meant to be read in order. Some series books can be read well as stand-alone books, but definitely not this one. There are characters and storylines that I’m just not understanding. She doesn’t do a very good job explaining, and instead it’s expected that the reader will understand.
As to the story... I cant believe just how much time was spent babbling about fashion before it was brought to attention that Lavinia was actually interested in it as a passion. Until then it was just wasted paper space! Also, from the time Parth went from indifference to kissing her came out of left field! Ugh. Just really an annoying story and I’m returning it.

I just want to point out again, I'm reading it as a stand-alone, it it probably much better read in order of the series. Then theres much more emotional investment to keep one interested.

Great read

Loved their story so much more than Diana and North’s. Glad I bought it, definitely worth the purchase.

Another fabulous Eloisa James book!!

I loved it!! The Wildes are such fun!! Parth and Lavinia have a rocky road, but it's so fun to hear their witty responses to each other.

Wonderfully Wilde!

From the moment they appeared in the first book, I wanted this story. It did not disappoint. Susan Duerden delivered a great audio reading and as always, Eloisa James nailed it. Loved it!

Dull

No real excitement. Too long for the short storyline. Way too much time spent on clothing info people from this generation don’t understand and don’t particularly care.
