Welcome to the world of fire magi, where what doesn’t kill you (literally) makes you stronger.

Saxony Cagney counts herself lucky when she wins a position as an au pair in Venice for the summer. It’s her responsibility to take care of two young boys - speak to them in English, make sure they get to their swimming lessons on time. Piece of cake, right?

She unexpectedly forms a strong bond with the youngest boy - Isaia. She also meets two Italian men.... Both are smart, successful, and sexy. So far, things are going her way. Who doesn’t like options? When she discovers Isaia is actually dying and his mom is trying to keep it a secret from his dad, things get a violent shove into complicated...and then contagious - she’ll never be the same again.

Just when she’s got more on her plate than she can handle, she accidentally gets tangled up with the most powerful crime family in Venice. Will Saxony survive long enough to learn the secrets of her new abilities, or will they kill her?

GREAT READ

Born of Fire: An Elemental Origins Novel (The Elemental Origins Series Book 2), my tenth read from author A.L. Knorr. WOW! Incredible read! I originally got this book back in May of 2017 & one thing lead to another and I never got around to reading it until now. My mistake. Now I’ve been given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reading & reviewing it and since I own both the Audible & Kindle editions I was able to follow along while being read to. Gabra Zachman’s talented narration adds to the well-written book's enjoyment. Extremely well written. I’ll be reading more from this author! Better yet this is the second book in a multi-book series that I look forward to reading. Next up, Pyro! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

An interesting YA supernatural story

Born of Fire is an interesting supernatural story about a teenage girl whose trip to Italy takes an unexpected turn. This book feels aimed at teen/ YA readers, but adults who enjoy reading books like the Twilight series should enjoy it as well. The audiobook also includes two related novellas.

The narrator of the audiobook has a voice that is well suited and does a nice job which character voices and emotions.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Interesting concept.

Before this book, a fire mage wasn't something I thought too much of. After this book, however, I'm invested into finding out more!! Really good book!!!!

A story that draws you into its world

Once you start listening, it's very hard to stop. You are drawn into the story, following the heroine throughout her adventures. The characters in the story become real to you, and you come to care what happens to each of them. Danger: an addictive author! 😀

Action packed, strong lead female character

Great books, loved the extra novellas included at the end....feels like I need to hear more about her journey on ....
It’s a young adult book, with a strong female lead, but hey, I’m 40 and I loved it! Great writing, fast paced, action packed. I am looking forward to introducing these books to my daughter also.

Another fantastic story

I listened to this in one sitting - got a bit confused when the book finished but there was still a few hours left. Then I realised there were 2 novellas afterwards which relate to the main book.

This is part of the Elementals storyline - the first was Born of Water which mainly featured Targa, a mermaid. At the beginning of the first book, we learn a bit about the Elementals before they go their separate ways during the summer holidays - during which, each of them find out about their true selves.

This book features around Saxony who goes overseas to be an Au Pair for the summer. When she arrives, she finds one of her charges is a very sick little boy, something she wasn't told about. During a particuarly bad encounter, what has been ailing Isiah, is transferred to Saxony - she is now a Fire Mage.

All in all, this is a great book, and shows Saxony coming to grips with her powers and, although she is only 16, she matures quickly with the gift that has been handed to her.

Gabra narrates the story very well and kept me interested in the storyline.

Another great listen from A.L Knorr

This is the second book in the elemental series, this time following Saxony’s story.
Saxony has a completely different experience to Targa, and it is great to get to know her a little better. Always fun to see the crossovers between the books as they occur, you will recognise the odd little bit from born of water to help align the timeline.
Gabra Zachman does a great job of narrating, although some of the English accents that she tries to do do sound a little bit like they came from the cast of Oliver! But I’m English and not brilliant at doing accents myself so props to her.
As always really enjoyed having stories read to me, nice to have something to listen to whilst I’m doing my work or driving.

Hard work

I found the first book hard work to get into I kept going with it and glad I did, I didn’t really like the readers voice but I got used to it. I’m glad I kept going because I really enjoyed the whole series.

WAY BETTER THAN 5 STARS!

Absolutely fantastic book, .....what am l saying!, l mean "FANTASTIC series! " l just loved visiting this destination with Saxony, she is such a star, wholesome and so girl next door type. l could see the old stone buildings, the canal party and so much more as the story blossomed and she discovered herself and her gift. And when this story came to an end l was delighted to find two off shoot storys included. They were both great as well. l am sure you will enjoy these three well narrated books as much as l did. RECOMMENDED HIGHLY!🤓⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
