I left my life behind me.

My sister.

My MC.

I need room to breathe and room to think, to make my own choices and to own my mistakes.

Bitterness and anger cloud my judgment when it comes to the MC. What is so great about them that I can't have on the outside? What is so great about the patch?

Death?

Blood?

Fear?

That is all I've experienced with the club.

I hated to leave my sister. She's the only reason I stayed as long as I did.

But it's time for something new.

And yet, I find myself searching for trouble, wanting - needing to be someone's savior.I have the best poker face, but when I lay down my winning hand and they shove a girl at me, bound and scared, for my prize, I knowI've landed in the middle of something bigger than me.

The girl? Scarlett Rose.

My reason for being.

My clarity.

I just have to prove it to her.

She needs protection, and I'll die before they hurt her again.

I just finished listening to the second book in this series. Boy was it good. Now onto book 3. You might like the book but due to some mature language I would not let a child below 18 read or isten to these books.

2nd book

Boomer's struggle turns into meeting Scarlett, his Sugar. This amazing narration brings them to life.

Poor Boomer. He knows he's messed up and needs something but doesn't know what he needs. This causes him to do what most people with trauma and intrusive thoughts do and push every one away and run, trying to find anything that will save him.
The overall story was very good and makes you feel for the characters and their mental struggles. While that gets a 5 star, I lowered it to 4 star because with the timeline for how long Scarlett is in the basement more should have happened, especially in light of later events in the book when they revisit the basement.
I hope we get to see more of Boomer in the future to check-in on how he's growing.

- Plot - In Atlantic City, when Boomer sees that the local Kings are up to no good, his caring side overrules his desire to avoid MCs altogether. Rescuing Scarlett brings the motivation Boomer needs to better himself but the hateful voices in his head are influential, leading to suicidal thoughts. As his Las Vegas brothers join the fight to save innocent lives, Boomer struggles to keep his fragile mind focused on the goal: Save his true love’s life a second time.

- Narration - It took a few chapters to get used to Logan McAllister’s tone. His pace isn’t as smooth as other narrators, but the staccato pace doesn’t take away from the ability to comprehend the story. He has a grit to his voice that definitely suits a biker. Sierra Kline has a smooth tone and pace. She shows Scarlett emotions well. Unfortunately, her male voice sounds quite similar to her natural tone.

- Sexy Times - The sex is deliciously dirty here. The c-word is used frequently so listeners beware if it’s not your kink. There isn’t any romanticism in this one so don’t expect a gentle seduction. However, all sex between the couple is consensual with equal participation.

- Style - One of my favorite inclusions is the genuine and hilarious banter, showing the familial relationships between the MC brothers. As usual, KL Savage provides thorough plot development with appropriate pacing. With this title, my wish is for more character development. Overall, I recommend this title as you navigate the world of the Ruthless Kings MC. You won’t regret using a credit or cash on Boomer.

- Memorable Quote - Scarlett: “What kind of man are you?” Boomer: “The kind your mother warned you about, the kind your father doesn’t want you near, but the one your body can’t deny.”

He’s broken and crazy but there’s someone for everyone, right?
This was a fantastic MC love story. It had me from the beginning and I couldn’t stop. Great MC drama, with a perfect combination of banter, sex and suspense.
The narration was absolutely perfect!! This is book 2 and can be read as a standalone.
