This book is supposed to be #3 in a series. I am guessing you probably need to listen to the first two for this to make sense. There is a lot of action, and suspense.
The narration was well done. The characters were excellently portrayed.

However, I'm having a hard time believing that this book, "Body Count: Gabriel, Book 3" was written by the same author.
Good stuff first.
I loved the story and the way it evolved. I greatly appreciate the imagination and actually enjoyed the book as the telling of an overall story. I'll be the first to say that I wouldn't be able to write a book about anything. The characters were great, the interactions were believable, and the pace was very quick with a lot of action. There were a lot of bad guys suffering horrible injuries and quick deaths.
Now the not so good stuff.
Between the narrator and the author, the grammar and dialogue was atrocious. I can't believe an editor let this book go through to publishing without some serious scrubbing. The words and thoughts didn't have any kind of flow to them. Repetitive words, thoughts and phrases were abundant throughout the book. For example, (paraphrasing the several times it was used) "I don't make threats, I make promises."
Repetition of the same words in back to back thoughts or sentences happened on many occasions. It sounded as though a child was speaking instead of a trained and educated CIA killer, or any of the other characters for that matter. My high school English teachers would have failed me for turning in a paper with this kind of grammar.
The narration certainly didn't help. S.W. Salzman has what I believe to be a great voice for doing audio narration, but this wasn't his finest work. I'm not sure though whether it was so choppy and tough to listen to because of the way the thoughts and words were arranged or because he was having an off day. Either way, it was tough to listen to at times.
Overall, I really loved the idea of the story and wouldn't change anything about it. I would however, do some serious proofreading, and send back for many edits of the grammar and dialogue. If I had known everything I know now, I still would have listened to the book. The story and ideas were great. Just very lacking in execution.
I received a free copy of this audio book for an honest review.
Great story, but...

What did you love best about Body Count?
The literal boy count of enemies in Gabriels way. What was one of the most memorable moments of Body Count?
Every time the other characters or Gabriel will explain that he doesn't deliver threats but promises and when they persist they see the the devil come for them. He goes after them so good.Which scene was your favorite?
The escape after he beats up and kills the wife and child beater.Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Not necessarily an extreme reaction but I did love the revenge aspect of why he does the things he does.Any additional comments?
This was a great and engaging book. The author Mike Evans did a very good job with the violence content and the feel for the characters. Salzman did an amazing job narrating the story and the different voices was an extra nice touch."This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBoom dot com."

This was a exciting book so much action and of course you are always rooting for Gabriel and his friends, and the suspense, sometimes I think I could have used a knife on it. This is a wonderful book and if you are lucky enough to have the audio narrated by Mr. Salzman than you are really in for a treat as he seems to transform you right into the story where you can watch it all happen right up front, Mr. Salzman and Mr. Evans make a awesome team and I am glad they have teamed up in this series, it make for a great experience for us the reader/listener.
Awesome Duo

Any additional comments?
Really liked this book. There is non stop action, drama and suspense. I was hooked from the first page. The story moves along at a fast pace because there is so much going on. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who likes a really good non stop adrenaline suspense filled thriller.
Gabriel ( Jacob August) an assassin for hire is a former CIA operative. After an attack on his family and the murder of his wife, Gabriel is out for revenge. Trying to keep his enemies away from his young son Mikey he entrusts the care of Mikey to his friend Forsyth. As Gabriel is trying to exact his revenge on those who deserve it, and get back to his , he becomes the hunted. Forsyth and Mikey find themselves being hunted as well. Yes, there is a lot of violence in the book but in each situation it is deserved. The name of the book is Body Count so violence should be expected.
I did not realize this was the 3rd book in the series until I started listening to it. You should probably listen to the first 2 in the series before listening to this one, but personally I don't think it's a must. It was pretty easy to get caught up with what is going on in the story. The main reason I would say to listen to the previous books is that if they are as good as this book it would be worth your time, as well as fill in some detail.
S.W. Salzman did a good job with the narration of this story. His female voices could use a little work. There is not a lot of difference in the male voices except when there is an accent but how many different male voices can you really do when most of the cast is male. Nice even pace and clear pronunciation. A few times the short pauses between characters were a little off. Overall it was a good job. He has a nice deep voice that fits the story and the badass that is the main character. It would really be off putting if you had an assassin with a high pitched voice.
Mike Evens is a new author to me and I will be putting his other books on my list of books to listen to as well as going back and listening to the 2 previous books in this series.
