Michelle Marez was raised in Pueblo, a culturally diverse town in Southern Colorado. She is half Slavic and half Hispanic. With both cultures having deep roots that rarely cross over, she felt that she never truly belonged to anyone.

Michelle's story is about navigating many identities while keeping painful secrets. The identities were like costumes, worn one over the next. These costumes became so heavy and itchy that she finally took them all off and exposed her true self. It took a devastating discovery to begin the painful work that leads her to love, belonging, freedom, and happiness.

This is her journey.

An unbreakable spirit, a must read!!!!

I absolutely loved this story from beginning to end! Michelle triumphed over everything that she has had to go through during her whole life. She was honest, raw and transparent and I could relate to so much of her story especially the self awareness and courage as she embarked on the 12 step recovery journey from alcoholism. I listened very carefully to all the details of her inspirational life as she never gave up and became an incredible loving mother to her own children. She has written and told her truth and I think everyone who reads or listens to her story would be uplifted and inspired to want so much more for their own life! I wish Michelle all the very best for the future and will be following her closely for any future updates on her life and or her writings! Susan
