I MUST HAVE MORE, I MUST HAVE IT ALL...NOW!!!!

While this book and series has some minor problems, it is superbly interesting. It also keeps me wanting more i NEED more and sure as hell need answers to tall my burning questions. I hope Kylie chan hurries and gets the whole thing on audible soon, i just might die of sheer curiosity if i have to wait to long. Please Lady Chan don't make me suffer ALL the Hells.
Okay enough of the whiney needyness, on to a review. I was glad that i got an answer to why Emma seems so inconsistent as a character, Honestly kind of chalked it up to...amateurish writing, sorry, But it seems i was very wrong and Kylie knows exactly what she is doing. There is a method to her madness as the saying goes.
Really there is only two things that i feel need to be addressed. 1. There are a few times that Chinese lore is brought up. Everyone in the book seemed to get the references, But it is never really explained to the audience, or comes much later in the book. Kind of annoying to have to do a google search in the middle of a book so i actually get what is being talked about. 2. there is a lot of unnecessary repeating of events in the books. Mostly Emma or others needing to bring others up to speed. a lot of Emma retelling things that happened or or needed information. When it could of just been Emma told them this or Emma explained that. without having to go into exact detail every time. Although if you read or listen to this book all the way to the end there does seem to be a reason for that, just not sure if it's intentional or not.
There were also two things that irked me do to my preferences rather than any kind of problem caused by the author. 1. I'm not sure if this is a Culture shock thing, but WOW does Emma contemplate suicide a lot. It kind of feels like any time there is anything even slightly wrong with her, at least that she sees as wrong, her go to method of dealing with it is suicide. Bit of a head case that one. 2. Emma was so certain that everyone was wrong about her, she kept asking over and over again for people to check her, seeming to deliberately ignore anyone (every single person) who didn't give her the answer she wanted LMAO careful what you wish for i guess.

Really can't wait to get to the next book, I. NEED. MORE. NOW!!!

The Author is finding her flow, improving her craft.

I enjoyed listening to this series. This book seemed to flow and move the story along better than the others. Fewer redundancies and less filler text than previous books. It shows the writer is growing.

I think this author has potential, she just needs good feed back from proof readers. Ms. Chan needs proof readers to give tough but constructive feedback and I think she can really grow into a top notch writer.

This book frustrates the hell out of me.

It and the last book could have been one book and nothing would have changed. The villains plan confuses me because it works. His plan was to piss of everyone one both sides and no one did anything about him. How do you piss of every god and demon and just not die.

Also the daughter coming in for the win wasn’t earned and dumb. She was so clearly being set up for her own story. The mx had about 3 different ways she could have dealt with the final before it got out of hand that would have left us with a more interesting status quo to explore in new books. Instead the books leave us basically at the same place.

Every time I thought they were gonna do something cool and clever with the plot they just don’t.

80% of this book is training and business management. We’re the mx gains a bunch of cool new powers from her unknown source. None of these powers and abilities effect the story. She just has them and does even try to use them to solve the problems at the end.

And I can see the reasoning. There are 6 more books in the series and that’s money. I refuse to participate any more.

And the frustrating thing is that I like the characters. They are fun. I unfortunately will never know how their stories end unless someone wants to tell me. Please tell me. I can’t find another person who’s read these books

I think the world is poorly constructed. The gods feel weak and small unless they’re the ML who’s at .01% of his power and is still stronger then any other god.
