Story
During the worst blizzard in memory, an FBI agent in a moving SUV in New York City is killed by a nearly impossible sniper shot. Unable to pinpoint where the shot came from, as the storm rapidly wipes out evidence, the agent-in-charge Brett Kehoe turns to the one man who might be able to help them - former FBI agent Lucas Page. Page, a university professor and best-selling author, left the FBI years ago after a tragic event robbed him of the willingness to continue. Lucas Page has no interest in helping the FBI - except for the fact that the victim was his former partner.

Publisher's Summary
In this psychological thriller, Jake Cole returns to his childhood home after his elderly father nearly kills himself by setting himself on fire and plowing through a plate-glass window. Jake’s father - a great American painter - is a man whose shadow Jake has tried to outrun since he was a boy.
Now a contractor for the FBI who possesses a unique gift for recreating crime scenes, Jake is pulled into a hauntingly familiar double homicide investigation. He recognizes the artistic signature in the slayings and realizes that he now must be after the same murderer who killed his mother when he was a child. Racing against time and a category five hurricane, Jake sets out in a race to find a monster who kills his victims in an exceptionally grisly fashion.

Plot holes and assumptions left to the imagination
Some indirect spoilers without name dropping ahead. Pros: Luke Daniels performance was great as usual. The story is what I had a problem with. Cons: There's no explanation on why rent a farm house when you have a beach house right up the street? What were they doing there and why? If the father was trying to protect his son why paint clues that pointed to his son? Where was the physical evidence? If you performed the crimes explained you would have a mountain of evidence or blood all over the place. Where was the knife? Two of the guys had skinning knifes but not the killer? The knife was never placed in his hands. Did the father off himself or did staff catch him before he jumped? Angle never concluded and who cut out his tongue? Where was the rest of the victim's skin? Did the kid kill his parents at 3 years old? Slash his mother's throat and drove a spear through his father's chest? Sink the boat while killing his parents? So many elements that didn't make sense, questions left unanswered like when the Sheriff figured it out the killer why didn't he call for backup? Deputy dead on the floor and another man dead in the chair and the Sheriff wants to have an casual conversation? Even then there was no knife in the killer's hand. I don't recall the dead guy in the chair knife missing. Conclusion: This book would have been better off as an super natural thriller rather than physiological crime suspense. That being have the killer's inner demons manifest itself in the physical world, a path I thought the author was going down at the Mitchell's house.

Passable
I love the voice of Luke Daniels, he can read me any thing. With that said the book is very violent and very predictable. I knew who done it less than half way through. Are they making this into a movie? Collin what his name from the Britain would make an outstanding Jake.

Really?
Would you try another book from Robert Pobi and/or Luke Daniels?
Probably not
What was most disappointing about Robert Pobi???s story?
I haven't finished it yet but I am screaming at the stupidity of this FBI genius letting his wife and child come to see him in a place where there is someone murdering women and children and where the biggest storm in history is about to land. Really?!!!!!! It's like the old "Birds" movie where they have Tippi Hedren go into the attic.
What three words best describe Luke Daniels???s performance?
Capable, but then anyone is better than Scott Brick.
Was Bloodman worth the listening time?
So far not.
Any additional comments?
We'll see if I finish it.

Great Scary Read
This is a well-conceived story with plenty of twists and turns. It's right on the cusp of horror and would be a great movie. There are several possible perpetrators along the way and each time I thought I had it figured out something would occur that made me question my thinking. The sorry-line is good by itself but the narration takes it over the top. Luke Daniels really gets into the lead character and brings him to life.
This is well worth your time.
