Viktor was a fool to think that his witch problem would be dealt with so easily or that any straightforward solution would be effective in matters involving such insidious magic and such perfidious treachery. Now his challenges have multiplied. The dread howl of a white werewolf tears its way through the city and the beast seems to desire nothing more than the executioner's death.

Adelstrad is teetering on the very edge and its citizens are actively looking for excuses to wipe one another out. The Baron is reacting in the most draconian manner possible to all the treason he's found in his midst, cracking down on the city's population and dispensing with his final pretences of patience. Everyone that previously had a minor issue with Adelstrad's lord and master suddenly has many more problems to worry about: chief of those being a sword through the chest.

The city is busy tearing itself apart, even as the Nordlings' raiding parties become bolder throughout the province and the sky above the city fills with dark omens. Viktor is running out of time and ideas to prevent a calamity.
