As the final battle approaches, a sellsword, a spy, and a general must find unlikely and dangerous allies in order to turn the tides of war in this epic fantasy tale of magic and gunpowder by acclaimed author Brian McClellan.

The Dynize have unlocked the Landfall Godstone, and Michel Bravis is tasked with returning to Greenfire Depths to do whatever he can to prevent them from using its power: from sewing dissension among the enemy ranks to rallying the Palo population.

Ben Styke's invasion of Dynize is curtailed when a storm scatters his fleet. Coming ashore with just 20 lancers, he is forced to rely on brains rather than brawn - gaining new allies in a strange land on the cusp of its own internal violence.

Bereft of her sorcery and physically and emotionally broken, Lady Vlora Flint now marches on Landfall at the head of an Adran army seeking vengeance against those who have conspired against her. While allied politicians seek to undo her from within, she faces insurmountable odds and Dynize's greatest general.

Continue the epic fantasy series by the author whose debut novel Brandon Sanderson called "just plain awesome!"

Loved the end to the story. The new narrator wasn't perfect, but did an admirable job all things considered. If he had been the narrator for the whole series, I would have still enjoyed it.

And for those complaining about the narrator switch, it wasn't something they chose, Christian Rodska (the previous narrator) died of cancer in between the release of book 5 and 6, so the switch wasn't something anyone wanted to do.

Good Story, New Narrator did his best.

I've really liked the stories in these books and the different take on magic, but why on earth would you switch readers for the last book in the series! Its made it very hard to get back into the story since all the characters sound and act differently.

Why did the reader switch!?

Yup - they had to switch narrators, but they picked as close to the same as they could get - nobody's fault, life happens. I am incredibly humbled by the story details, sophisticated well emotion'ed characters and tying it all together in a perfect conclusion. This story was entertaining throughout, never a dull moment and constantly evolving. Soooooo good! You're an idiot if you don't continue the series!

So good!

Thank you Brian McClellen for a Good Ending! Too often have invested lots of time in an interesting new world builder w/ characters. First book becomes book two and the investment grows ... then the author can't seem to tie the loose ends together - slap dash -the trilogy ends with the bang of a soap bubble. thank you for a unique world and a great story.
Powder Mage, omg, you must have found an amazing shroom patch. thanks again! kw

Really enjoyed this last book. There were definitely branches of the story and characters that I wish had been explored more, but I was satisfied with the ending

Great conclusion to the story

Awesome book. It's unfortunate about the needed change of narrators, but it is what it is, you'll get used to it. Use your imagination.

Awesome.

No spoilers, that's the gist of it. You need this series in your life! Wishing there would be a third trilogy

One of the best series I've ever had the pleasure to listen to

This was an excellent story. I hope we get to experience more in this world, especially considering how this story ended.

The change of narrator was a little off-putting at first, but considering the reason, it was necessary, and the new narrator was good.

Excellent story

One of the best fantasy series of all time and my personal new favorite. Fans of Joe ambercombie and similar style would also enjoy this. Amazing story but even better characters and a fantastic reader!

Amazing

Blood of Empire is the third and last book in the Gods of Blood and Powder trilogy and I am very sad that it has come to an end, as I will miss many of the characters as they have become old friends. Vlora Flint, Mad Ben Styke, and Michel Brevis were some of the best developed and written characters I have come across. In addition, Brian McClellan's ability to develop the supporting cast and invest the reader in his characters is noteworthy. Blood of Empire was hard to put down and it ended all too fast. The conclusion to this trilogy was exciting and full of adventure and intrigue, with a touch of humor and sarcasm. I have read that the author is not going to return to the Powder Mage universe, and that saddens me, but I look forward to reading whatever Brian chooses to write next.

For the most part, I listen to audiobooks and this series was no exception. Up until this point, Christian Rodska, one of my favorite narrators had provided the voice for all of Brian McCellan’s books. When I noted that the author had switched narrators, I did some research, only to find out that Mr. Rodska was having some health issues. There is almost nothing more frustrating to the audience of audiobooks than when the author has to switch narrators. Sometimes the reasons for the switch are hard to understand, but not this time. Most of the time, regardless of the reason for the change, the switch is unnerving, and it can get really bad when the new narrator chooses to not listen to the previous works and pronounces names and places differently, resulting in a narration that detracts from the story. What I also discovered was that even while sick, Mr. Rodska worked with and helped with the selection of John Telfer. I also have no doubt that Mr. Telfer listened to the narration of the first two books by Mr. Rodska before tackling the final book. While I missed Christian Rodska’s voice, that effort paid off, and John Telfer's narration was outstanding and he achieved the transition as seamlessly as I have ever seen. Congratulations and my hopes and prayers are that Christian will be back narrating other books in the future.

Outstanding Finish. Hate to see the story end.
