Story
Assignments are handed out at the end of every Conclave, and Lissa has been given the assignment to act as Liaison for the ASD (Alliance Security Detail) - the founder and 20 charter members of the Reth Alliance have made that decision. As Lissa says, "you don't show up for the meeting, you get the assignment." She doesn't realize, at first, that the founder intends her position to be hands-on.

Story
>"Reah, this is Commander Aris." Bel moved aside, once we were inside the spacious office, and I received my first look at the outpost Commander. He stared at me for moments as I stood before him. I was so frightened I was afraid I'd burst into tears. He was a lion of a man with thick, shoulder-length, dark gold hair swept back from his forehead. He didn't stand as his rank dictated, otherwise I think he would have dwarfed Bel, whom I thought was quite tall.

Story
We belong to the king - those of us with the black roses tattooed on our left wrist, directly over our pulse. As if every beat of our hearts reminds us that we are not our own. All the women with the fire burning within them are culled, tattooed, and taken to the warriors to provide more energy. Energy that the warriors will then use to defeat the barbarians from the ocean of sand. Women with black roses on their wrists are emptied of their power by those warriors, who care not that they die a shrunken husk.

Publisher's Summary
"Tsk, tsk," Erland muttered, shaking his head in mock sympathy. "Perhaps Lissa should raise the topic of diplomatic immunity at the Conclave."
"That, my friend, would be inadvisable. She is new and many will be waiting, as vultures do when an ox is dying."
"I know. At times, I feel the need to cover myself in oil, just to slip through the tripe and garbage of Wylend's court. Lissa will have to contend with 500 times that when she goes to Conclave."
"I fear that no amount of diplomatic oil will keep her from the shock that is coming. She will be snubbed and mistreated by many, I fear. Not only because she is a new monarch, but because there is a price on her head. Most will be placing as much distance between that and themselves as they can get. It is never wise to befriend one who is marked by the Assassin's Guild. That is usually a death waiting to happen."
Death has come to Le-Ath Veronis. A would-be assassin, aiming at Lissa, kills someone close to her instead. A price has been placed on Lissa's head by Black Mist, an assassin's guild who have been paid by a reassembled Solar Red. Throw in a spin-off religion, betrayal, a misguided kidnapping and the Five-Year Conclave for the Reth Alliance, and you have the seeds of war.

inally - Blood War !!!!!!!!!!!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Are you kidding me!!!!!!!!!
I have been telling evryone I know about all of Connie Suttle's books.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Blood War?
When Lissa scared the commander of red hand. I could imagine him pissing himself when he thought he had another girl to torcher.
Which character – as performed by Traci Odom – was your favorite?
My faves are - Lissa, Gaven, Roff and all the others but I have only one complaint.
The only complaint I have is the voice of Rego, first vampire king of Harade. He sounds Like a whiny girl. His voice doesn't match his personnality. Please fix it for the next 2 books, thanks.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The Seeds Of War Have arrived for Le-Ath Veronis!
Lissa has to suffer again as if she hassn't suffered enough now little Toff is kidnapped, a price is on her head and betrail is in the air. Another day another betrail.
Any additional comments?
Suttle's Blood Wars in audible is awesome!!!!!!!!
Again, the only complaint I have is the voice of Rego first vampire king of Harade. He sounds Like a whiny girl. His voice doesn't match his personnality. Please fix it for the next 2 books, thanks.

Another great Lissa Story!!
I love this series, i cant wait for the next book to come out. My only complaint is that there are now so many characters that I wish I had a guide to who's who, for the most part I know but periodically I will question a past or how they met, etc.
So, good book, excellent series!

The Red Coats are coming!
Queen Lissa is in for a bloody and emotional war, is she prepared?
Situations have been building up to an impeding war, and something more with Lissa, and now the other shoe has finally dropped. With so much conflict spanning over many different planets, how is Lissa supposed to keep order?! Her power is mighty but she is only one, the one that was meant to calm all the chaos...but how?
From the moment we found out Lissa was more than a vampire and had a seriously outrageous destiny, I knew nothing but trouble was coming. From the time Lissa was born she has had nothing but heart ache, pain and suffering at the hands of “loved ones”, even now, as Queen, she is still forced to eat crow. I've had to suffer in silence over the injustice that has befallen my friend Lissa over the eight books in this series so far and my heart has just about given up on hope. Lissa's father is at the heart of all her woes, and he is on everyone's black list now a days. When Lissa finally reaches that emotional point of despair, that is when she will discover and unleash the ultimate power she's been capable of, and that is when all the wrongs will be righted, or she'll just say suck it and be gone! Either way, look out enemies of my enemy.
The upcoming war, and Lissa's future has me on pins and needles, and if it wasn't for life getting in the way, I would be binge listening to the very last book. I can't even begin to imagine how Lissa's story will end, but man ol' man, if I know this author, it will be a doozie! Strap on your big girl panties, cause heads will roll!
Narrator Review
Traci Odom continues as the narrator for the Blood Destiny Series, and I am still in love with her :) She is the most amazing and talented performer that I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to. There are narrators then there are story tellers, and Traci will just blow you away with the way she delivers this story of a lifetime to you.

Blood War !!!!!
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
yes but only if they have listened to the series
Would you ever listen to anything by Connie Suttle again?
Of course I really enjoy her work
Have you listened to any of Traci Odom’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I like Traci Odom's narration although it does change throughout the books but that's a good thing for me, As I have gotten used to hearing her during the rest of the series
Was Blood War worth the listening time?
I have listened to all of the books available in this series, I have to admit lissa does nothing but moan and complain about her life, she never appears to be happy or content with her life.
I loved the books in the beginning but find that the longer these books run the less I like her,
Grffin well he is just a waste of time out to destroy his daughters life no matter where she is, I'm yet to find out why he wiped roph's memory there doesn't appear to be a reason for this, yet it pops into the book with no real reason or explanation. I will as I have done so far listen to the next book Connie has written, I hope there is explanations for these rather random acts by Griffin.
Any additional comments?
I can only hope that further books in the series have better ground work, Lissa needs to be happier with her lot , She is one of the Nameless ones so her power is greatest surely with that power should come the possibility of some laughter and happiness.

Better in Book form than Audio - Good Read
I love this series and have read and re-read all of them - as I have said before the author is somewhat clumsy in her writing but the overall story in good.
The narrator was much better in the earlier books when there where fewer characters. I have problems with her voices.
The voice she used for Roff and Thurlow are very very alike which I found extremely distracting.
The character, Rigo is according to the book, more than a millennium old and has a strong sense of morality and integrity yet the voice HE has been given is that of a young girl perhaps it might be a boy. I wouldn't normally suggest a change of narrator in the middle of a series but on this occasion, please consider it.
