Story
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

Publisher's Summary
An electrifying debut thriller for fans of Apple Tree Yard and Anatomy of a Scandal - introducing a stunning new voice in psychological suspense.
Alison has it all. A doting husband, adorable daughter, and a career on the rise - she's just been given her first murder case to defend. But all is never as it seems....
Just one more night. Then I'll end it.
Alison drinks too much. She's neglecting her family. And she's having an affair with a colleague whose taste for pushing boundaries may be more than she can handle.
I did it. I killed him. I should be locked up.
Alison's client doesn't deny that she stabbed her husband - she wants to plead guilty. And yet something about her story is deeply amiss. Saving this woman may be the first step to Alison saving herself.
I'm watching you. I know what you're doing.
But someone knows Alison's secrets. Someone who wants to make her pay for what she's done, and who won't stop until she's lost everything....

The worst book I’ve read in months
This is not a thriller. It’s 6 hours of pathetic characters, followed by 1 hour of so-called twists which were completely predictable from the outset. Perhaps I misunderstood what this book would be about since it’s billed as a thriller. Waste of time.

An OK book ruined by an annoying narrator
I much prefer to sit and read a book, but I rarely seem to get the time these days, so I listen to audiobooks whilst out walking etc. I really had to force myself to listen to this as the story was reasonably OK as long as you fight your compulsion to slap Alison, but the narrator’s voice, in particular her ‘Tilly’ voice made my ears bleed. I always look out for her name before I download any more books in case she pops up again.

Superior Thriller well narrated
I thoroughly enjoyed this book it is very very clever and has a great twist. This is a complex story exploring the darker side of human nature and I so enjoyed this listen that I resented any interruptions ! and heard it all over one weekend. Both of the main characters are really well depicted and though hard to like in the beginning evolved into complex interesting characters. I can't wait for Harriet Tyce's next book.

A Psychological Thriller that Won't Disappoint
I grabbed Blood Orange on a whim - I thought the title was great, and it fell under the genre I like - I had heard no reviews, and had no clue what to expect.
Blood Orange was a solidly enjoyable novel. It didn't make me fall off my seat the way Girl on the Train did, however it certainly had me on edge more than once. This isn't to say it isn't worth reading - it certainly is!
The story itself, while perhaps a little vapid in its character development, is well-written and holds interest the entire way through. I always found myself looking forward to the next moment I could listen to a bit more.
The narration is excellent, though I found the child's voice a little annoying.
The major plot twist - which is really why we read these novels I think, is great. While by the end of it, the reader does have one suspect, the inherent details of the twist are completely shocking and well executed. The story is wrapped up well, does not leave any prominent questions unanswered, and closes on a comfortable note.
All in all, it's a great novel, thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone who enjoys this genre of novel!

Good story but alison has no agency
Main character had no agency. I found it frustrating that she took no control over her situation, consistently being the portrayed as the victim of her circumstances but never being able to change them herself. The character was displayed as weak & under the control of two men who treated her terribly. The story was overall well written and had a great twist at the end but I felt consistently annoyed by the main character dependent on these two men.

Good story with one problem
Without trying to spoil any of the story, I have to say I really didn't like the protagonist being such a... I don't know... Victim. Everything that happens is done to her, almost nothing by her. Even and especially at the end.

Good for entertainment whilst doing housework
I found it pretty predictable as to what was going to happen, I also felt that some details such as character appearance and images of places they visited could have been more descriptive and other details were not needed, such as the courtroom number.

Story
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

Rose Grahame had everything Alex D’Arcy dreams of. A handsome husband, a stunning home and a baby boy with twinkling blue eyes and a smile that would brighten the darkest of days. It’s a stark contrast to Alex’s life - her dead-end job, her borderline addiction to drink and pills, her failed engagement and her cluttered flat. But the women’s lives are about to collide - and nothing will ever be the same again.
