Read this book or at least my review of the book!
Finally! someone telling people it's not necessary to be all dramatic like on Hollywood portrays that it's done! If someone were to freaking slash their palm with a dagger like that they wouldn't be finishing any spell or ritual. Do you know how deep you would have to cut to produce the kind of flow that they pretend at in those cheesy shows? All that will do is send someone to the hospital with a nasty infection and maybe cause permanent nerve and muscle damage. Good luck explaining that to the doctors! Anyways... lol, good books for what it costs. I recommend for some light witchy reading.
