Once, when Mackey was the US marshal for the whole Montana Territory, he swore no job could get any harder. Publisher's Summary
Crime's an ugly constant in the big city. L.A. Chicago. New York. But when a savage murder brutalizes a small town and neighbor turns on neighbor, a tough-as-nails cop is essential to restoring order.
Blood Land is a gritty, emotional saga set in the Wyoming badlands with both greed and vengeance at its core. When billions of dollars in natural gas rights hang in the balance and the town's top law officer's wife is slain by her own blood, a reluctant hero is forced to battle his own demons and ultimately choose between justice, revenge, and duty.
In the tradition of Dennis Lehane, Tony Hillerman, and James Lee Burke, Guthrie's sparse, haunting storytelling compliments his talent for creating richly-drawn, unflinching law officers with human frailties and a sense of justice.

Wait for it...
Struggled to get going. The author's descriptiveness a bit much for the rough narrator. But...I'm glad I gave it a chance. Good plot (once it got going), excellent narrator. Looking forward to Guthrie's next book.

Excellent Read
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why? YES!! Wonderful story, well developed characters, twists and turns that keep you guessing till the very end. Have you listened to any of Brad Langer’s other performances before? How does this one compare? The was my first book of Brad Langer. I look forward to hearing more of his work. Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry? I ran the entire gambit of emotions right along with the characters. Any additional comments? There is so much going on in this book that, once I finished it, I felt I had missed something. So I started it again and enjoyed it even more!!

Throw an alien in it next time
The ending came out of nowhere. Not a mention of the group in mention until they appear. They may as well be a bunch of aliens beamed down! And the narrator's hero was obviously the character from "Sling Blade!"
