NATIONAL BESTSELLER • In this spellbinding novel, Lestat, rebel outlaw, addresses the tribe of vampires, telling us the mesmerizing story of how he became prince of the vampire world, and of the formation of the Blood Communion, and how his vision for the Children of the Universe to thrive as one, came to be.

Lestat takes us from his ancestral castle in the snow-covered mountains of France to the verdant wilds of lush Louisiana, with its lingering fragrances of magnolias and night jasmine; from the far reaches of the Pacific’s untouched islands to the 18th-century city of St. Petersburg and the court of the Empress Catherine. He speaks of his fierce battle of wits and words with the mysterious Rhoshamandes, proud Child of the Millennia, reviled outcast for his senseless slaughter of the legendary ancient vampire Maharet, avowed enemy of Queen Akasha, who refuses to live in harmony at court and who threatens all Lestat has dreamt of....

This well-written book ends the story of LeStat and friends. This reader, however, almost ruined it for me after SO MANY hours of listening to the Vampire Chronicles!

Simon Vance had finally understood the character of LeStat. His French accent was good. Mr. Vance read LeStat with strength, vulnerability, and the brilliance that we have come to love about LeStat.

Mr.Quinn, who has an impressive resume to say the least, nearly ruined the last book of the Vampire Chronicles! His accent (Brooklyn?) was not right, it seemed like a cold reading and that he had not done his homework on the character. He had no idea (at least it seemed) who these other characters were and how much time and emotional energy we have given these characters as listeners. I could not have been more disappointed in his performance!

As always, Ms. Rice did not disappoint. The series ends well with each important character being discussed. I would say to READ this book if you can!

What happened to Simon Vance???

If you enjoy Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles, you’ll enjoy this book as well. All my favorite characters are here, and I got to meet a few new friends as well! The story has a “conclusion” feel to it as it appears to wrap up a trilogy with Prince Lestat, PL and the Realms of Atlantis, and Blood Communion. I just hope she has some more stories up her sleeve!

The narrator didn’t do a poor job per se, but he should have listened to a recording done by the previous narrator. Mr Quinn pronounced many names differently than they were pronounced previously and given the complexity of the foreign names used, it takes a few re-listens to figure out which character is being referred to. Also caught a few specifically British pronunciations (aluminum for one) and that throws you for a loop when the previous narrator spoke American English. Again, this is not a complaint about Mr Quinn specifically, but once a narrator has been used for part of a series they should be used for the whole series, or should listen to past recordings for consistency reasons.

Great story but not narration

loved the book .story kept me powerfully interested but the narrator left much to be desired. Not necessarily a bad narrator, but not one meant for this story. Was not conducive to the previous narrator and it was hard to fully enjoy the book. As soon as I'd be fully into a moment, he'd pronounce a name weird, or speak without using the accents like the previous narrator used, etc. His voice did not fit Lestat at all, did not evince the power and emotion that needed to come through. Another great book by Anne Rice, but I really wish I could hear it with a different narrator, or the one who did the previous two books.

great story lukewarm narrator

Simon Vance should’ve been used for this book, especially since it was the last in the series that put a dent

Horrible narrator for this storyline

The guys voice was horrible. I know he has read books before but this time it was Not good.

Much like watching The Walking Dead when Negan showed up, I got hooked again on the vampire chronicles as I did in the first books. Covered my mouth with my hand a few times. didn't care much for the narration this time, just due to expected accents from prior books, not impuning narrator. A huge reminder of the Lestat we all fell in live with. Bravo Anne!

Wishing fiction was reality again.

Loved it! Ann Rice does a spectacular job picking up the pieces after the last novel made for a tough follow up but she did just that with ease and good taste! This was narrated beautifully and one of the better voices I've enjoyed here.

Lestat is my hero and he doesn't let u down!

Narrator's pronunciation of characters' names was inconsistent with other books in the series, amongst other issues in the reading. Narrator's tone of voice would be better suited to another genre.

Not fond of the reader for this particular series.

It's a nice return to the Savage Garden, but anyways exceedingly difficult to outdo yourself. Anne Rice still makes for another great addition to the Chronicles. The narrator was harder for me to get into. While other narrators have seemed to emerge Lestat in accent and demeanor, this felt like a best friend who is a fan reading the book to me and also trying to move up from community theater. I felt it distracted me from the story more than connected me. For that, I'm left wandering whether I would have enjoyed the book better in written form.

Good but not great

Great story, but the narrator mispronounced most of the names. Made me cringe every time he would pronounce names wrong.

Great story, narrator not so much.
