Publisher's summary

The high-leveled Blight Leech Kane Zerriah is out harvesting Blight from living beings when he finds the corpse of a dead orc.

Questioning how this is possible—considering orcs have been banished for more than a decade—he's suddenly ambushed by a group of brutal Orc Fire Shamans.

He soon suspects Queen Terrahee of foul play, but none of his guildmates want anything to do with his borderline paranoid suspicions....

In a parallel dimension—on the planet Earth—Ylya Thorli has finally had enough of a life overflowing with hardships. After one last gruesome event, she decides to escape the chains of misery by ending her own existence.

Ylya's extreme levels of Blight seep through the dimensional border, drawing Kane's attention. He tracks the sweet scent of her agony and watches her with great interest, wondering whether to harvest her essence or grant her new life as a Blight Leech....

solid story

I loved the first part of the book. I wish it had more of that story of the female characters arch and less of the male characters.

it's a good book in the genre.

first review and I'd recommend the book.

Cool story.

Cool start to a series. I liked that multiple parts of it ended up on Earth. I experienced some great schadenfreude with some of the revenge situations. The magic system was pretty unique with its dark vibes. The narrator did a good job setting the tone of the book.

Leeches are useful

I found this book interesting. My favorite parts are when the woman got back at the people who mistreated her. The prison break was awesome, too.

A Fantastic Beginning

Ben sets the table well with his first novel in the Apcosmos. it is deliciously dark and eludes on so much more to come. I can't wait. :)

I had 1 problem

I enjoyed the way it was written, but the narration was not to my liking. I recommend listening to the preview before picking up. I will be grabbing the Kindle version so I can enjoy the story again.

Story was great.

Story was great. Unique urban take on a Leech mc.

The narration was good when he kept his volume steady. But too often his volume dipped when trying to voice inner thoughts and it made it tough to stay focused while listening.

Good start to a series!

I enjoyed this book. It’s not too dark, but it goes there from time to time.
The story and its dilemmas caught me and kept me there, listening. I’m looking forward to get to know the Apocosmos Multiverse even more and I am excited for the road ahead!
Great start!

Horrible whistling NARRAtion

Narrator needs a speech therapist and a sound editor. Goes from mumbling at an inaudible level to shouting all while periodically whistling at same pitch of a kettle boiling over.

EVEN OUT THE LEVELS and stop WHISTLING! like the word “cosmos” and somehow “was” both sound like a looney tunes character who swallowed a flute. mumble mumm mm AND YOUR SPEED UP SLOW DOWN cadence is not dramatic it’s just annoying.

I wish I could have paid attention to the story, it seems interesting. The performance is HORRIBLY distracting.
