A must read for all black girls and women.

I wish I had something like this when I was growing up. Hearing stories from women who I can relate to is the missing piece I needed. Thank you Beverly for creating this book.

Wonderful and Empowering Except For a Few Things

I am so grateful to Beverly Bond for putting this together. It's so amazing to listen to inspirational stories of Black women. As an African woman, it makes me proud. While I am not a fan of Barack Obama, I understand why some women in this book see him as an inspiration but I don't understand why someone would mention Mahatma Gandhi because he hated Black people. In addition, it isn't fair to erase Nina Simone's queerness. She dated women, not just men. Ultimately, this book is good and the narrators are fantastic and they deserve 5 stars.

Inner Beauty of a Race that's already Superior!

I loved this book. The way it was written and told made me as a female, daughter, niece, granddaughter, friend and sister look at life from different angles begin a black woman, however, a black Caribbean woman in America. It made me proud to be me and see us as black women coming together to tell our truths rather than curtail it to fit other ideologies that aren't our own. One Love to my sisters and my people.
