Publisher's Summary

For anybody familiar with the condition known as bipolar 2, you will probably know how difficult and distressing the condition can be. Bipolar 2 Disorder is a condition most commonly characterized by at least one hypomanic (happy) episode and one major depressive episode.

Firstly, what is bipolar 2? Bipolar 2 disorder, is a type of mental illness that is very similar to bipolar 1 disorder. Typically, people suffering from bipolar 2 will experience severe mood swings and changes, alternating from periods of extreme lows, to highs over time.

The only real difference between bipolar 1 and 2 is that in bipolar 2, the person suffering from the condition will never experience what is known as full on "mania" type highs. The less-intense elevated moods in bipolar 2 disorder are known as "hypomania" or hypomanic episodes. Generally, people suffering from bipolar 2 disorder will have, or will experience at least one hypomanic episode in their life. Unfortunately, people suffering from this condition also suffer spells of depression, sometimes quite severe. This is where the term "manic depression" comes from.

the audio recording was pretty bad

The actual reading is good but the audio quality is subpar compared to other audible books. Other than that this is a good introduction on how to deal with bipolar type 2. If you can get over the audio quality this book should be fine.

Great book with a great narrator

Very easy to listen to. Basic but great information on BP I & 2. Some straight forward information for those just diagnosed, in denial or someone trying to understand a friend or partner. Again basic but great and easy to listen to and finish.

Very Informational

Any additional comments?

As someone who suffers from this disorder I found the information contained in this audio book to be very helpful and eye opening.
I would recommend this to anyone who's looking to educate themselves along with getting some awesome tips for coping.

ok, but somewhat abrupt

the narrator sounds like a kid reading from a textbook. the price is right though, if you can get past her grating voice. info seems solid.

Very Basic

Very Basic you could Google and pop up more info. I recommend a more detailed and longer book.

Find the basics here-- now I get it

Just diagnosed with this and couldn't find a good understanding of it captured anywhere. This book provides a very good understanding. Not wild about the voice of the reader but I am really fussy about readers, so it probably is fine for most people.

Some helpful tips

but they're all superficial. If you're looking for in-depth explanations then don't bother with this book. The narrator was very dry and bland, it was hard to stay focused while she was reading.

barely ok if you know absolutely nothing about B2

This is only barely ok if you know nothing about Bipolar 2. The tips are "get help" and "have friends". I'm disappointed.
