Acerca de esta escucha

The bestselling phenomenon from Japan, with irresistible appeal to fans of Marie Kondo, that argues there is happiness in a minimalist life

Fumio Sasaki is not an enlightened minimalism expert or organizing guru like Marie Kondo―he’s just a regular guy who was stressed out and constantly comparing himself to others, until one day he decided to change his life by saying goodbye to everything he didn’t absolutely need. The effects were remarkable: Sasaki gained true freedom, new focus, and a real sense of gratitude for everything around him.

In Goodbye, Things, Sasaki modestly shares his personal minimalist experience, offering specific tips on the minimizing process and revealing how the new minimalist movement can not only transform your space but truly enrich your life. The benefits of a minimalist life can be realized by anyone, and Sasaki’s humble vision of true happiness will open your eyes to minimalism’s potential.

Loved this book. One of the best I have come across in my life time. Truly has made me reflect about myself,
my possessions and their purpose in my life. This book was worth every penny. I will relisten to this, and think it is a great reference book. I recommend it to any and anyone who is looking to rid their space and mind of unecessary clutter.

I write this short comment, as I encourage you to take advantage of this great daily deal.
The writer is an editor by profession, Japanese, and he writes in the Ernest Hemingway style. So this book is simple, to the point and doesn't ponder too long on why.

Note I do use the new 1.25x speed to match the author's intent.

I am a recovering hoarder, and shop-a-colic so I am always on the look out for good quick tips that can help me when I slip my leash! Or galvanize me to start again on purging my treasures I have not use in way too long.
These types of books are for those who want to try or to keep trying to stop hoarding or perhaps shopping.
This is not written in a style for those who just keep thinking about trying, but really for those who need a boost to keep going to get to the place that truly makes them happy.
Let me know if my comments helped?

Got some new tips and inspiration! like the philosophy behind decluttering and living with less and loving what you have.

As the author lays out his topic and the reasons for hanging on to things, I am usually mouthy the exact same answers as he gives them. At one point he says, "throw out something right now" I emptied most of my old photos into the trash, and the remaining few will be scanned and will join the rest shortly. All of the loose paper will be scanned, and will be in the recycles by Sunday night. This man's insight is incredible, he was right, "I bought things so people would be impressed by what I have". I will listening to this book quite often, until minimalism happens every week with me.
Thank you for providing the "get a clue stick" to the side of my head.

Truly inspirational

Even if you're not considering the lifestyle of minimalism I'd say it's a good read. I think theres a lot of small good reminders and things from this book that we can all learn from.

I have been trying to do things the "Marie Kondo way" , with my clothing it has been wonderful. listening to "Goodbye Things", has definitely motivated me and really caught my attention when he said I just didn't know how to get rid of stuff and just needed to learn how. there are many tips on how that I feel will really work for me. so much that I started right hand way between chapter 3, and have made 2 large boxes full of stuff to give away and another to sell. throwing away is still hard. although I am not working towards being a minimalist, I am working towards spacious and clutter free. Somewhere in the middle. Medium.

Practicing a life of minimalism can be a challenge in the beginning. This is a great read to reaffirm your conviction to bring and keep peace in your life. There are lots of good ideas in this book to keep us on track to simplify our lives so we can really enjoy the things, or lack there of, that are really important.

Enjoyable read!

Would you consider the audio edition of Goodbye, Things to be better than the print version?

No. While the narrator was great, there are several lists and photos in the book that would benefit from print.

What other book might you compare Goodbye, Things to and why?

This is hard to answer. Just think of it as part memoir, part how-to, and part philosophy. It's a great mix. Actually, it kind of reminds me of Walden by Thoreau, without the woods.

What about Keith Szarabajka’s performance did you like?

Everything. He even accents the quotes.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

If you are interested in minimalism, this is well worth the credit for the philosophy and personal story.

Inspirational and neatly broken down

I really enjoyed this book and I am thinking about getting rid of a lot of things. I believe less is more and freeing. This will be a slow process like the author experienced too. I am grateful for this book.
