Publisher's Summary

One year ago, Sarah Palin burst onto the national political stage like a comet. Yet even now, few Americans know who this remarkable woman really is.

As chief executive of America's largest state, Sarah Palin had built a record as a reformer who pushed through changes other politicians only talked about: energy independence, ethics reform, and the biggest private-sector energy infrastructure project in U.S. history. While revitalizing public school funding and ensuring the state met its responsibilities to seniors and Alaska Native populations, Palin also brought Big Oil to heel.

She was a Main Street American woman: a working mom, wife of a blue-collar union man, and the mother of five children. But as the presidential campaign unfolded, Palin became a lightning rod for both praise and criticism. And few knew the real Sarah Palin.

In this eagerly anticipated memoir, Palin paints an intimate portrait of growing up in the wilds of Alaska; meeting her lifelong love; her decision to enter politics; the importance of faith and family; and the unique joys and trials of life as a high-profile working mother. She also opens up for the first time about the 2008 presidential race, providing a rare, mom's-eye view of high-stakes national politics - from patriots dedicated to "Country First" to slick politicos bent on winning at any cost.

Going Rogue traces one ordinary citizen's extraordinary journey, and imparts Palin's vision of a way forward for America and her unfailing hope in the greatest nation on earth.

    "Fantastic!!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Going Rogue to be better than the print version?

It is always better when the author reads so I would have to says yes to this.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Going Rogue?

There were moments when Sarah wanted to be herself or respond to attacks and the higher-ups in the McCain campaign were telling her "No." So sad, I think he would have had a much better shot at the white house if they had let her

Have you listened to any of Sarah Palin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No

    Any additional comments?

It is always better when the author reads. if you are an author please keep this in mind.

"The last 1/4 of the book is shameful."

The book was great and inspiring all the way up to the last portion. After the first ¾ of the book, it turns into the most dreadfully awful text that is just full of counter attacks and excuses. Nasty things are said about those that the author thinks hurt her image and excuses after excuses are offered for her actions. Come on…just suck it up and say it was a learning experience that you will grow from, there is no need to go down to that level.
You will in fact read about the author’s commitment to the religious philosophy to which this great nation was founded on and it is very inspiring to get to know the author in this way. Hard work and dedication was the backbone of her success and the author’s willingness to standing to those who never had any opposition (large corporations) is a positive attribute that you will read more about and admire.
Then you will witness the writing turn a full 180 from the character of the author that you thought you know, to focus on almost libelous attacks to the people that she felt wronged her during her political journey. All I can say, to anyone who reads this book and has somewhat of a religious background to that which the author says she believes, if you do not feel something is wrong with the way the author creates excuses and counter attacks those that she feels hurt her, glance at Luke 6:29 and Matthew 5:39, “If someone strikes you upon one cheek, turn to him the other cheek as well” and remember also, Luke 6:31 and Matthew 7:12, “ Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

    "One Great American"

I enjoyed the book completely and I connect with her ideas. Hearing her read this book was the best way to listen to it and it makes it more acceptable.

"Get to know Sarah Palin better"

I enjoyed listening to Governor Palin read this book. It really helped me to get to know her better. It starts out with her getting the call and being asked to interview as the 2008 Republican Vice presidential candidate. She goes back in time and explains how she got into politics in the first place. She talks about her family and the pressure that involvement put on those she loves. Governor Palin was elected Governor of Alaska because of her strong grass roots effort. It was a shame that the campaign advisors would not let her have more input on how to be presented to the American public. I only wish the audible version had been unabridged so I could have heard more.

"I didn't hear that from the main stream media."

If your understanding of Sarah Palin is based upon reporting from the "impartial" main stream media you need to hear her perspective in her own words on the events before and after her Vice Presidential candidacy. If you can't think for yourself don't bother.

    "Going Rogue"

Going Rogue defines the character and situation of Sarah Palin. It fills the gaps from the media frenzy as seen on TV and sets Sarah and her family into everyday life in Alaska. In this book, Ms Palin sets the record straight.

"Very interesting stories, if a bit self-serving"

I did enjoy this book, especially that it was narrated by the author. Most interesting was hearing an inside account of someone running on a major party presidential ticket, kind of experiencing that through her eyes. That said, there were some parts that I thought were really meant to advance her agenda or candidacy, but I guess that's to be expected - she is a politician. Overall my opinion of her changed for the better from having listened to her story told first hand.

    "What this book leaves out"

Sarah never admits to taking trips to the toilet in this book.. Not one plop. No wonder people think she is full of it. I tell you what If I were Sarah, I would invest in some of that prune juice schtuff. Then the plop flops out

    "A real gal"

She's so open & transparent. She's someone who you could trust & by listening to her story in her words, you can tell that she's an honest Joe. I think she hinted at the Political puppeteer managing more than what most of us would imagine. It's interesting, like she's trying to reveal something about our government that we may not be aware of. Would've loved to see photos of her & family growing up. Guess that's the drawback with audio. Oh well! Maybe someday!
Good read, don't pass it up!

    "Going Rogue: An American Life"

Very well written and presented by the author. It sure gives a scary insight into what a candidate has to go through to be a conservative in politics today.
