Duncan MacCoinnich's task... Travel to the twenty-first century Renaissance Faire, deflower the Druid virgins, and go home. Only his job is not so easily accomplished with the virgin in question, Tara McAllister. Time is running out. The evil is closing in on them both. Tara finds Duncan irresistible after what was supposed to be a mock hand-fasting binds them.

When Duncan whisks her to his home in Scotland she could accept that. But when she finds herself in the sixteenth century, away from her modern life, can she forgive? And is it love they feel? Or something else?

Reseñas editoriales

Time travel, romance, and mythology collide in Catherine Bybee's Binding Vows. Striking Scottish prince Duncan MacCoinnich is, by vocation, a ladies' man, tasked with bedding virgins across history lest they find themselves targets of an evil curse. Nevertheless, at a 21st-century Renaissance Faire Duncan finds himself hopelessly smitten by modish maiden Tara McCallister, and decides to forsake his womanizing ways. Unwittingly whisked away to Duncan's estate in 16th-century Scotland, Tara must adapt to her new environs even as she's pursued by evil forces. At turns playful and provocative, saucy Sottish performer David Monteath perfectly personifies Duncan's devilish allure. Navigating disparate cultures 500 years apart, Monteath provides colorful character acting whether he's playing a cool and coy contemporary Californian or a regal Renaissance aristocrat.

Engaging Time-travel • Magical Elements • Excellent Scottish Accent • Lovable Characters • Captivating Storyline

Cute story. I have a real problem listening to the narrator so I won’t read further. The publisher should come out with a new and improved taping of these stories. Preferably female. Male readers (most) are really annoying.

Problem with the narrator

This is more a comment than a criticism. Male narrators make for delicious male voices, but female voices, eh. It has to be tough. Cassie, though a secondary character, was grating. I had to work hard to get past the sound of Tara’s voice as well. Duncan and other guys: dreamy. Same for female narrators of stories. It’s just hard to get the rich timbre of a man’s voice, even with the text reminding the imagination of the “deep and rich voice” of lead male.
I really wish the professional men and women narrators would pair up, just for the dialogue. OTHERWISE- David Monteath has a wonderful voice and perfect accent suitable for this story.
The story itself is entertaining- though purpose why the brothers show up in beginning- um, uh, bleh. And c’mon Tara, leaving the castle at the end was like teens in a B movie thinking it’s ok to go into a haunted house. Also, would have liked some hints along the way of her “power” to come. A little more evolution. All in all, fun and light. what ladies like.

Enjoyed enough to be going for 2nd book

Was an easy listen it was actually nice to not have a highlander book where the girl gushes about the highlanders muscles and legs for hours or how hot his accent is like the tons of them.
The girl wasn’t annoying and actually funny here and there.
The story wasn’t very long and their love was quick but at least it was interesting with the witch.

Wasn’t bad

The most entertaining thing about this audio book is the man doing the female voices! It sounded so awkward that it became so bad that I just kept listening for the cringiness and laughs.

The story was okay, nothing surprising or sit on the edge of your seat worthy.

Okay story

I loved this 1st book. it got me hooked for the series. In fact the next 3 books are equally wonderful. Book 5 however ends the series on a cliffhanger. It was written / published in 2013 and though the author's website promises a conclusion there is none. Yet she has written and published many other book from 2013- 2022. If you are ok with never having a resolution to the plight of the family then I recommend the entire series.

The writing is excellent & the storyline captivating.

Narration is terrific & represents the spirit of the time traveling family.

Wonderful! Super Romantic & engaging!
