Science fiction allows us to go places we can only dream of seeing - other worlds, distant stars, entirely different galaxies. While not every story is concerned with the hard science behind space travel and other futuristic ventures, fiction can give us amazing insight into what we could be capable of and what we dream of doing. In these 10 lectures, Professor Erin Macdonald interweaves real science and the achievements of the imagination to reveal the truth that underlies our favorite stories and sheds light on what the future may hold.

Maya loves to cook with her grandmother - her Halmunee - to connect with the rich family history associated with each dish, a history Maya's mom would prefer stayed in the past. While cooking with Halmunee, something remarkable happens - the food creates such a strong memory that Maya and Halmunee are transported back in time through the memory itself. Halmunee explains that the women in her family have the gift of time travel through food and Maya can do it too, if she practices.

In 10 lectures, award-winning historian Patrick N. Allitt transports listeners to England in the 1840s and 1850s. During those two decades, Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, became one of the most influential people in the country and remains a figure of fascination even today. In fact, the British royal family as we know it wouldn't exist without the private and public actions of this detached, impartial, and upright political figure.

Story
The tide is turning against the colonists in the Revolutionary War, and 18-year-old Elizabeth Morris cannot sit by idly. Quietly disdainful of her Tory parents, who drag her along to society events and welcome a British soldier into their home during their occupation of New York City, Elizabeth decides to take matters into her own hands. She realizes that, as a young woman, no one around her believes that she can comprehend the profound implications of being a nation at war - she is, effectively, invisible. And she can use this invisibility to her advantage.

Billy Kelly, where have you been all my life? I love this style of comedy--quick, punchy, clean, clever. It's awesome to hear kids and adults laughing together in the room, and the songs are way too catchy. I will never look at pumpernickel bread the same way, and I definitely moved my tissue box. Mediocre comedy, family friendly
He spent more time talking about how excited he was about being on Audible than actually telling good jokes. There were a few, but the first half was a little painful. Billy I appreciate what you are trying to do but gotta be honest.

Sparkly all-ages comedy set perfect for family road trip
Offbeat and genial comedian/songwriter Billy Kelly delivers a friendly live comedy set (plus extra bonus studio music tracks). Somewhere between Dmitri Martin and Ray Romano, Kelly embarks on something new: a stand-up comedy show for families. With warmth and wit he follows his own quirky bliss and, along the way, welcomes your kids to share in the world of observational comedy and wordplay, surely inspiring some schoolyard sets in the near future. Cheers to him for pushing family entertainment into an alternate medium. There are laughs here for all-ages and, with a 90-minute running time, it’s perfect for a shorter road trip and will have the whole car smiling.

~90 minutes I won't get back
I would say someone should inform the comic that a completely visual joke on a performance being recorded for audible doesn't work, but then neither did the ones you could hear. After suffering through 90 minutes of comedy open mic flashbacks, we were given a special treat: the exact same musical jokes again, this time with less audience and less editing skills. Seriously, the cuts in things he had noticed bits are reminiscent of what I managed with a handheld tape recorder when I was twelve. Even as a free performance it wasn't worth admission price.
