Instant New York Times Bestseller!

From bestselling author James Patterson, six kidnappers pursue a whopping ten-figure payout in this thrilling novel featuring “breakneck pacing and loop-the-loop plotting” (Publishers Weekly).

Five members of a billionaire’s family. In different locations. All kidnapped at the same moment.

Two children taken from a private-school bus. A film producer and a movie star grabbed at a hideaway resort. A beautiful wife whisked off the streets of Beverly Hills.

A patriarch wants his family back. The cash, gold, jewels, are crypto are all ready.

There’s only one problem: a brilliant, very stubborn FBI agent. Special Agent Nicky Gordon doesn’t want to pay the kidnappers.

Not a dime.

I love it, it kept you on the edge of your seat. A true page turner. Thank you

Best audio for September 2025

Predictable and without much suspense. It is enjoyable as background noise. Not one of his best.

Nothing exciting

Virtually no development of how and specifically why the main character was supposed to be so evil. T the story development is not worthy of such a distinguished author. Greatly lacking in in-depth and smoothly presented plot. Tons of of twists and turns for the sake of “fill-in” is worthy of high school

Great idea, but amateurish in its development

I wish there were more characters that I really liked. Also the word billionaire and the story did not match. Nothing about the story showed the glamour or lifestyle of the rich.

Expected more

If you're interested in a novel full of predictable outcomes and cliches.... Look no further

The narrators voice was so annoying. I stopped listening at chapter 31. Story wasn't bad though.
I love 95% of Mr. Patterson's stories and narrators, but this one ...

Sorry...the annoying narration

I enjoyed this book but I did find it a little predictable. A little disappointed.

Good. A little predictable.

Slight spoiler alert.

The narration was good except for certain parts where the character is yelling. The narrator literally yelled in my ear and I had to turn my volume down - chapter 94 is a good example of this up and down voice fluctuation. The story was good but there was no good detective work that unraveled. The clues seemed to fall into the task force’s lap. The mole on the task force was annoying but how else could the kidnappers keep one step ahead of the task force?

Interesting but not earth shattering

It just didn't seem like a Patterson book. It was also a bit confusing. The narration was a bit annoying too and I finished it because I had listened to at least half of it. I don't think I'd re-read it again like some books. It's all about a kidnapping with 3 separate people from the same family. You may like it however I didn't think it was worth the credit.

Not very exciting imo

I liked it very much!! Listened to it in one night(helped that our power was off in storm). Lots of surprises. Was not thrilled with the end and reasoning of detective-her explanation of inside knowledge was weird, too contrived

Excited
