Big League Energy, Single Momma Energy, and more SHADE than a Louisiana live oak.

MONTANA

“Big Country.” That name—my name—had Dodger Stadium shaking when I won the World Series. Now they’re talking suspension? Please. I’m a national legend. The pride of NOLA. But the only thing dragging my six-foot-four frame into my Creole restaurant is Journey.

That woman’s a walking challenge—sharp tongue, soft smile, and eyes that promise trouble. One look from me and she fumbles that cool facade. One look from her and suddenly I’m reconsidering every rule I’ve ever followed.

So yeah, I’m about to blur the line between business and pleasure.

ZURI

That damn face of Montana’s? Sculpted by heaven. His body? A gift to the female race. But his baseball alter ego, Big Country, has me practicing for the forty-yard dash. Kidding. I’m proficient at running.

Hell, he doesn’t know my real name. My locs stay concealed behind a Diana Ross wig that probably smells of desperation and deception. And nobody will ever know the truth about my son’s father.

But the problem isn’t pretending. It’s the way he looks at me—like he sees straight through the disguise. And if I’m not careful, he might see the woman I swore I’d never let anyone touch … again.

This brand-new, hilarious romantic comedy will have you planning a trip to New Orleans!

Common themes: Single mother, Protector, opposites attract, romantic comedy, found family, baseball/ sports romance, who hurt you?, meet cute, Mardi Gras, alpha with a soft spot, healing after trauma, black love, secrets, hidden past, and southern hospitality.

I’ve read some of the authors earlier work and loved it so I thought I’d give her romantic comedy a chance. The narrators really got into character. Some of the scenes really made me feel Ike I was in NOLA. Great story.

I adored Big Country. Big Country with his head jokes cracked me up. Journey had me laughing as she was trying to work and not look at his fineness. I admired the way the family loved each other and backed each other up, the way it should be. I loved the narrator’s voices. It is a worth read romcom. My favorite genre.

The story is 5 stars for me and the Nola creole accent from Big Country mama kept me entertained throughout the whole book.

I slept on this book because one, this is a new author to me and I kept putting it off. I finally got the audio to read along and I enjoyed every minute of this.

Zuri was always running along with her son due to her past. She ends up in New Orleans and essentially gets trapped in the best way with this family and this man who could have anyone and has an ego bigger than the state itself. LOL.

Montana was your average guy who feels he could have whoever he wants and Zuri gave him a headache and chase. To see his alter ego take a backseat and see THE REAL MAN who cared and wanted the best for her and her child was beautiful to see.

Even though this is Zuri and Montana's story, the family was stars of the book too. His mom, aunt, and brothers was A TIME!!! Loved all the banter!

I am definitely reading Washington and Madison's book when it comes out because I am a sucker for Second Chance Romances! ❤️

This is my first book I have read with J Y Kora's narrating and I already have other books waiting to hear her voice again. It almost sounds like another narrator but I am not sure if I am just tripping. She did so good as Zuri! ❤️ Now I love me a Myles Washington narration. Accented Myles Washington makes me giddy. I eat up every moment of it. NO NOTES!

Such a Good Read
