Publisher's summary

Riley finally has love within his grasp, but the only way to protect it may be to let it go. With no more rules standing in their way, Riley Shepard and his angels test the boundaries of their new and unconventional relationship. Jealousy and doubt lie in wait, threatening to ruin the tenuous ties connecting them. But some things are always worth fighting for.

As the forces of Hell conspire against them, their list of allies dwindles, and the question of who to trust becomes an issue of life and death. There is always more to give, and to protect what Riley loves most, he must make an impossible choice. If the price for their lives is breaking their hearts, then Riley will pay it. There is no love without sacrifice.

Betrayal is the fourth book in the M/M+ harem/poly romance series, Fire & Brimstone, featuring hurt/comfort, insatiable guardian angels, sizzling encounters, and an unlikely hero who comes into his own.

NOTE: Betrayal does end in a cliff-hanger.

Trigger warnings include: violence, gore, death, and off-screen sexual assault.

I am crying - My heart is breaking - Noooooooo

I am crying - My heart is breaking - Noooooooo
I fell into this world on this episode (bad habit I know)
I hesitated so many times because this was so goooooooddd and I wanted to start from the beginning so I had a deeper connection
However - after a few chapters I was too invested to quit
Yes, it is that GOOD!
I finished this but I am buying the first three and doing it right

I want to wrap Riley in bubble wrap - protect him from all the evil, the betrayals, the hurt

The Seven want Riley and have no limits when it comes to what they have to do to acquire him
The council wants Riley their approach is to play nice in the hopes to manipulate his will
His guardians? They love Riley and will trade their lives for his no hidden motives

Riley?
Just wants a chance to be accepted, to love and be loved, to live life for once on his terms

This has everything
Suspense in spades
Angst bubbling out of the speakers (it's audio)
Strong characters that endear or offend
Detailed world-building that transports the listener
And the narrator - Spot on!

I cringed, I cried, I laughed
One of the best books of this year

Plot is gone

Series started real strong. Now its just soft sex scenes. Started to move away from a story and primarily soft sex scenes with the last book. Probably wont get the last book.

Hot series

Alright I’m enjoying this series so much but want to scream at the cliffhanger. The story is very good and has some great action to the plot and some serious heat. Riley keeps growing more and more and I love seeing the relationships deepen and get even more intense. The narrator did a fantastic job! I laughed at quite a few scenes which made me so happy. This was lighter up until the very end and I need the next book so badly.

Where’s that 6th star

Utter perfection. Plot, characters, drawing upon every emotion possible. Kirt Graves is a master. Can’t believe I waited so long to listen. Nikole Knight, I bow to you. Highest recommendation.

A much needed, temporary break from the angst.

Beautiful and much needed Gideon and Riley moments. Jai and Noelle getting closer and in general the family living their best life. Riley has grown so much and his development, along with everyone else, is what makes these books so good. The end seemed inevitable and all the good things before it made it hurt that much more. Afraid and excited to start the next one.

How?

How can one person get everything they want, everyONE they want, never have to be the one left out, and yet still be the one everyone thinks is being taken advantage of? The whole deal was basically, I get you all or I leave… it just doesn’t add up.

Massive Cliffhanger

Oh, what, a cliffhanger!? I have no idea how it will play out for everyone, but I love the emotional ride this is taking me on. Riley is really growing on me as the series goes. I love watching the relationships grow more intense and passionate.

What an amazing ride Kirt Graves and Nikole Knight took me on in this one. Graves is so powerful during emotional times. He’s done such a wonderful job there is no way I can read this story. Only audio for the entire series.

Probably the Lightest one yet

This book was probably the lightest one in the series except for the way it ended. I loved watching their love build and that date between Riley and Gideon was absolutely hilarious. After the climax though, I'm scared to read what happens next because I know it's going to be horrible. It's a train wreck and I can't help but watch it happens.

The audio narration was so freaking good, and I absolutely loved listening to their story again.

Outstanding narration - I love this series!

I love this series - and I love the audiobook version of this series even more, which makes the already epic series even better.
It was very nice to watch Riley develop. This time around, the focus is on Riley's relationship with his angels. He has single dates with Noel, Jai and Gideon and each one goes differently. But it's not all sunshine and I think the relationship of the four is portrayed very realistically and authentically.
I found the romantic moments with Gideon especially sweet, as he finally manages to let his walls down to experience some happiness. That this is not so easy is quite understandable given his dramatic past. However, I also liked how things developed between Riley and Noel and Riley and Jai.

I was really happy and content and then the last chapters came and disaster struck. Dramatic scenes played out and my heart bled, no it was ripped out. What a roller coaster ride of emotions!

Kirt Graves is amazing! He brought the characters to life and read the book very vividly. His voice fits each character perfectly and he is a master at portraying the emotions expertly. Kirt makes the book a true listening experience that had me hooked from the beginning. Thank you for this absolutely outstanding read.

And now I'm totally jittery because after the cliffhanger at the end, I'm now eagerly awaiting "Redemption"!

Oh dear

This amazing series just gets better but be warned, this book is dark and filled with pain and uncertainty. The darkness appears to be winning here as loyalties are tested, trust is sometimes not easily given or deserved and the surety of a good ending for Riley and our other beloved characters grows more uncertain. I loved all the angst and cannot wait to see where the author takes this! Kirt Graves is a favorite audio performer and his work here is impeccable. He'll have you on the edge of your seat and feeling all the emotions.

Another disturbing chapter

I’ve been pulled in to this series and I’m always amazed how much Ms. Knight pulls into each story. Riley is starting his second year of college. He’s out from the horrific Ms. Janet’s control and living the life he wants. He has his guardians who are no longer his ‘official’ guardians. Jai and Noel and Gideon all live in the apartment next door. The literal barrier of a wall has been torn down as the emotional barrier between them is also being torn away. Riley spends many nights over with his angels. Things are chaste for most of the book. Riley is still inexperienced. His companions are cognizant of that. Then there’s the night that everything changes.

Before I get to that, I have to give a quick nod to the scene where Riley discusses Uriel’s sex toys with Gideon. I viscerally felt Gideon’s embarrassment as he gave Riley the lay of the land. And their visit to the nursery – gardening center, not the other kind – was a precious moment.

I should’ve known that peace wasn’t going to last.

The book comes with a warning of violence. And it is. Big time. And people die. People Riley cares about. And he’s presented with the ultimate choice. Himself or the three people he loves most in the world. I knew what he’d do, but it didn’t make it any easier to witness.

The book also ends on a cliff hanger, and I’m happy to say I’ve already picked up the next audio and will be listening to it shortly.

Gotta say, I’m loving Kirt Graves. He hits all the right notes in this piece – from Riley’s quiet innocence to Jai and Noel’s antics. With Gideon trying to keep everyone on the straight and narrow – a completely impossible task.

I can’t wait to see how this series ends.

Another great addition to the series by Nikole Knight. A pleasure to rejoin the characters on their journey and their personal development. Kirt Graves was a superstar as always with the marathon.

As sweet and romantic as it was devastating

The majority of this audio was such a peaceful respite from the emotional turmoil of this series, but the ending hit hard and I know things are only going to get worse before they get better. Riley and his angels have wound themselves firmly around my heart, and getting to listen as their already close bonds deepened with romantic love was wonderfully satisfying. Whether it was Jai's rougher desire, Noel's sweet affection, or Gideon's shy gardening dates, the sheer depth of their love filled me up with joy. Even the simplest afternoon in the garden or movie night felt like a treasured gift when I could see how happy it made all of them. With all their feelings out in the open, Riley and his angels began exploring the physical aspects of their relationship for the first time, and you'd better believe I devoured every steamy second. I'm so proud of Riley for being brave enough to ask for what he wanted, and the payoff only served to bring them even closer. Outside of the swoon-worthy romances, Riley learned some surprising truths about his parents and had to deal with a devastating betrayal, as the title of the story suggests. When I say the reveal was gut-wrenching, I don't even feel like that comes close to describing the pain and anguish I felt as I listened to Riley suffer from the actions of someone he called his friend. Any last hope I had of Riley being able to escape his destiny was snuffed out as he made the difficult decision to protect his loved ones instead of hiding in denial. I'm already bracing myself for a brutal next chapter, because the consequences of Riley's actions are literally going to change the future of this world.

Fantastic!

I absolutely loved this audiobook and the series as a whole. Much of this book is about relationship-building between Riley and his angels...or rebuilding. After Riley took off in the last book and ended his guardianship by Gideon, Jai, and Noel, there was much confusion and hurt feelings. After spending time living and training with Uriel, with limited contact with his angels, Riley returns, and the healing process takes center stage. The growth and deepening of the individual relationships between Riley and Jai, Noel, and Gideon are heart-warming and sometimes heart-rending as secrets, hurt, and deep emotions are revealed. Riley's relationship with each angel is different and unique, and you can see how together they form the support he needs. For those who have read/listened to the other books and lamented the lack of sexual heat, that definitely changes in this book. There is plenty of steam, but also lots of humor, as Riley explores and asks questions about sexuality. Gideon, especially, gets his share of mortifying questions ("What is fisting?"). It's a beautiful story...until it isn't. There is always an undercurrent of tension and danger, and hints that not all is well. Riley has dreams of Lucifer, and there are hints of betrayal. And then, WHAM! I won't spoil the dramatic climax, but there is a battle and losses, and then Riley has to make a decision that will change all of their lives. What is he willing to sacrifice to keep his angels safe?

The narration by Kirt Graves is phenomenal. Each character has a distinct and unique voice, and he delivers the drama with feeling and emotion. It's excellent and takes a great book to an even higher level of enjoyment.
