The Best Rick Montoya Mystery Yet

There are 3 plots in this book. The main one taking place in Assisi, and the other at the beginning of the book, starts off in Palermo, Sicily and is in the background until the end. There is also a story about Betta (Rick's girlfriend) who has an art theft to solve in Pisa. The murder in Assisi really kept me guessing, and its resolution surprised me as did Betta's story. The Palermo tale has its own (scary) twist. Having three independent plots was done very well, and was something different for this series.

There was a lot of food in this book with some mouth-watering descriptions. The "travel guide aspect", typical of this series, was enjoyable as usual, and I learned more about Assisi than I had when I actually visited there.
