Acerca de esta escucha
From the author of Rhyme Schemer, House Arrest, and Knockout!
The Kids Under the Stairs: BenBee and the Teacher Griefer is a funny, clever novel-in-verse about Ben Bennet - who failed the language arts section of the Florida State test - and three classmates who get stuck in a summer-school class.
But these kids aren't dumb - they're divergent thinkers, as Ms. J tells them: They simply approach things in a different way than traditional school demands.
- Each chapter is told through the perspective of one of the four students, who each write in a different style (art, verse, stream of consciousness).
- Celebrates different types of intelligence
- A heartwarming, laugh-out-loud novel-in-verse
Soon, the kids win over Ms. J with their passion for Sandbox, a Minecraft-type game. The kids make a deal with Ms. J: Every minute they spend reading aloud equals one minute they get to play Sandbox in class. But when the administration finds about this unorthodox method of teaching, Ben B. and his buds have to band together to save their teacher's job - and their own academic future.
The first in a series of complementary storylines, this is an honest, heartfelt book about friendship, videogames, and learning to love yourself.
- Features a distinct and engaging cast of characters
- Encourages even the most reluctant reader to embrace their own "divergent" self
- Perfect for parents of kids age 10 and up who love Minecraft, educators and librarians, middle-grade readers, new readers of poetry, and fans of videogames
- Add it to the shelf with books like Ghost by Jason Reynolds, Patina by Jason Reynolds, and Short by Holly Goldberg Sloan.

Kate and Tam meet, and both of their worlds tip sideways. At first, Tam figures Kate is your stereotypical cheerleader; Kate sees Tam as another tall jock. And the more they keep running into each other, the more they surprise each other. Beneath Kate's sleek ponytail and perfect façade, Tam sees a goofy, sensitive, lonely girl. And Tam's so much more than a volleyball player, Kate realizes: She's everything Kate wishes she could be. It's complicated. Except it's not. When Kate and Tam meet, they fall in like. It's as simple as that.

Historia
A hilarious new middle grade novel from beloved and best-selling author Gordon Korman about what happens when the worst class of kids in school is paired with the worst teacher. The Unteachables never thought they’d find a teacher who had a worse attitude than they did. And Mr. Kermit never thought he would actually care about teaching again. Over the course of a school year, though, room 117 will experience mayhem, destruction - and maybe even a shot at redemption.

It is 1940 and William, 12, Edmund, 11, and Anna, nine, aren't terribly upset by the death of the not-so-grandmotherly grandmother who has taken care of them since their parents died. But the children do need a guardian, and in the dark days of World War II London, those are in short supply, especially if they hope to stay together. Could the mass wartime evacuation of children from London to the countryside be the answer?

Twelve-year-old Trace Reynolds has always looked up to his brother, mostly because Will, who's five years older, has never looked down on him. It was Will who taught Trace to ride a bike, would watch sports on TV with him, and cheer him on at Little League. But when Will was knocked out cold during a football game, resulting in a brain injury - everything changed. Now, 17 months later, their family is still living under the weight of "the incident" that left Will with a facial tic, depression, and an anger he cannot always control, culminating in their parents' divorce.

Historia
It's the summer before middle school, and 11-year-old Bug's best friend, Moira, has decided the two of them need to use the next few months to prepare. For Moira, this means figuring out the right clothes to wear, learning how to put on makeup, and deciding which boys are cuter in their yearbook photos than in real life. But none of this is all that appealing to Bug, who doesn't particularly want to spend more time trying to understand how to be a girl. Besides, there's something more important to worry about.

Reseñas de la Crítica
"BenBee and the Teacher Griefer is one of those rare novels that ache with honesty: it is about discouragement and hope, about sad lonesomeness and glad community, about listening and being heard, about the fear of vulnerability and the absolute joy of being known. It is, in other words, about life - and like life, it demands our attention. You won't, you really won't stop turning the pages!" (Gary D. Schmidt, Newbery honoree, Printz honoree, and National Book Award finalist for Okay for Now)

Such a fun book to follow!
Personally, I can't imagine playing the computer games that kids play. I love working on the computer but the language needed to communicate seems beyond me. But this book and especially the way the narrator is able to portray that communication..... it actually made sense to me. Due to the narrator's ability, I also fondly hold onto my pleasure felt as the kids grew throughout the book.
