There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man. On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Publisher's summary
Ida Pederson was an executive at ‘Nyberg Shoreline’ when she was sent to the small Northern Irish village of Port Kriel to diffuse tensions between the company and the local community. When an unexploded bomb was identified on the seabed near Nyberg’s windfarm, Ida sent a local crew of eight men to investigate. That night, only two men returned home, barely alive and unable to speak of what had happened out at sea.
Now, corporate lawyer Michelle has driven in the torrential rain to a remote house on the Swedish Coast to question Ida, who seems determined to leave the past beneath the waves. Is it a case of corporate espionage or something altogether darker…and is the danger really over?
Below is a darkly tense thriller from Belfast based writers Aaron Gray and Paul Skillen, and is Executive Produced by Jed Mercurio with Sound Design by John Wakefield.
Starring: Atilla Akinci, Sophia Ally, Rakie Ayola, Myanna Buring, Robert Calvert, Elly Condron, John Cormack, Caoimhe Farren, Conor Gormally, Simon Kane, Paul Mallon, Gerard McCarthy, Fergal McElherron, Melanie McHugh, Declan Rodgers, Richard Sherwood and Roger Thomson.
This production contains scenes of attempted suicide which some listeners may find distressing.

Other than that, it's an okay short story. careful with the audio though. They added in screeching audio/ radio interference that is unnecessarily loud.

Great production very entertaining
I listened to this with headphones and it sounded great - Quality was excellent . Actors were top notch - story was better then most and even though it’s kind predictable it’s still got some twists -
Reading the reviews a lot of people say it just ends abruptly - it kind of does just go to closing credits but then after the credits the story picks up again at the very end to close out on a cliff hanger -

Different
I think there was too much left on the table, sort of speak. This should have been much more. Much more explanation of what the "thing" is and where's its from...maybe?
I did enjoy it and the narration was good. I just wished for....more....
and the ending was rather unsatisfying, unless it was meant to be a segway into another follow up story.

Creepy and Exciting!
Great Cast. Great to listen on a rainy day or while doing chores. I couldn't stop until I heard it all. Variation of nightmare scenarios. Water, the unknown in the dark, who can you trust, Corporate profit being more important over people's lives. Cover ups. It has it all. I would recommend. Loved the dramatization and special sound effects. Thanks Audible.

An unexpected end
Absolutely loved it! I starred at my phone for a while when the narration ended because I wasn’t expecting the events that unfolded. The narration is enjoyable, is easy to follow even with multiple characters/narrators, and keeps you intrigued because it sounds like a film is being played. I can’t think of a reason to not give it a listen.

Creepy and Immersive
Corporation comes to a small coastal town to exploit their resources, and they unleash something unexpected horrible. This was a good riff on this trope, and the sound arrangement made it an engaging listen. A tight little story with a little twist at the end. Great performances, cool structure. Definitely worth checking out.

Enjoyed it a lot with some caveats
I very much enjoy these kinds of productions in which there is a cast of actors rather than a single narrator. (In fact, I think I have gotten spoiled by them bc they are so engaging.) This particular story was mysterious and kept me interested. The performances were very good, too.
Two things caused me to give an overall rating of 4 instead of 5. The most important of them is that the sound that is played between chapters and/or scenes, meant to bring atmosphere or produce a sense of dread in the listener, is quite irritating bc it is far too loud. The mixer had to know that the audiobook would be listened to with headphones by a substantial number of people. The volume of that sound relative to all others in the production is simply too loud and makes me wonder whether it is even safe. It would be good if Audible would adjust that sound and upload a new file for future listeners bc it is a real problem in my view.
Second, it lost a bit of steam at the end. The ending is a little abrupt. I didn’t even realize I was at the end of the story until it was announced (and, yes, I listened to the entire file). Additionally, one of the later characters we encounter was not developed as well as the others, which is a missed opportunity.
Still, this is an interesting story that is very well acted, and is worth a listen.

Reasonable story
The actual story was quite enjoyable although predictable, with a little twist at the end .HOWEVER the background noise and the “atmospheric “sounds were very annoying and at times maybe it difficult to hear what was being said

Fantastic from the start, an awesome production- griping
This audible has it all - a great narration, storyline and production. It’s like watching a film without the pictures. The voices/ cast and background noises allowing you to picture the story
The story is compelling, fast moving with depth and intrigue .
Let’s hope there’s another one on the books for this team - well done to all

Really good, more like this please
I listened to it in one seating while crafting, was completely submerged in the story, cast and narration were great, and the story was gripping. I really like stories like this with a full cast and sound effects, I wish there were more of them or perhaps I don’t know where to find them..?
