Story
At an exclusive school somewhere outside of Arlington, Virginia, students aren't taught history, geography, or mathematics - at least not in the usual ways. Instead, they are taught to persuade. Here the art of coercion has been raised to a science. Students harness the hidden power of language to manipulate the mind and learn to break down individuals by psychographic markers in order to take control of their thoughts. The very best will graduate as "poets": adept wielders of language who belong to a nameless organization that is as influential as it is secretive.

Story
A terrorist bomb explodes during a South Korean celebration of the anniversary of the election of its first president. Alarms are raised in Washington. No one is claiming responsibility. The first suspect is North Korea. Could it be making a power play against South Korea and unification? If so, how will the U.S. respond? Paul Hood, Director of the Op-Center, must answer these questions. The Op-Center, a largely autonomous new agency which takes on the government's toughest security problems, is only six months old, and has never been given a foreign crisis until now.

Jason Stafford is a former Wall Street hotshot who made some bad moves, paid the price with two years in prison, and is now trying to put his life back together. He’s unemployable, until an investment firm asks him to look into possible problems left by a junior trader who died recently in an accident. What he discovers is big - there are problems, all right, the kind that get you killed. But it’s not his only concern. Stafford has another quest as well: to reclaim his five-year-old son, "the Kid", from his unstable ex-wife, and then learn just what it means to make a life with him.

From its first moments, Hunter takes you on a nonstop thrill ride: from the top floor of the CIA, to the marbled corridors of Capitol Hill...from the posh hotels of downtown Washington, to the city's mean, violent streets. It introduces a colorful new hero for our time - and a dazzling heroine every bit his equal. A spy mystery...a crime thriller...a passionate romance: Hunter is a genre-bending novel unlike any you've read. Deviously plotted, filled with vivid characters, and propelled at a breakneck pace.

Excellent SciFi Thriller
“Before The Sun Hits” is a top notch SciFi thriller about a disillusioned, small time, college professor, Drew Bauer, who discovers that the sun is dying out and is going to explode. Realizing that his abandoned research could hold the key to saving the world, Bauer sets out to try to do something about the problem. Only he is kidnapped by a billionaire mega villiain who has his own plan for surviving the apocalypse. A plan that doesn’t have the best interest of the rest of the human race in mind.
“Before The Sun Hits” is an enjoyable novel that would have been even better if the author had chosen to hire a professional narrator instead of doing his own reading. Mr. Swan isn’t a terrible reader, but he isn’t great either. I found his delivery somewhat monotoned and his pace too fast. Many times one sentence blended into another as if there were no periods to tell him to stop for half a second.

Here Comes The Sun
Where does Before the Sun Hits rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Before the Sun Hits is a fast paced "maybe end of the world" thriller. I really liked the book, but it is disturbing at times. Contemplating a future without the sun is down right scary. The author interjected humor and romance to break-up the tension.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I liked Professor Bauer. He seemed to represent "every person". He is not perfect, but he strives to do the right thing.
What does Arthur Swan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He brings the book alive. I was worried about an author reading his own work. In past books, with other authors, this has not worked out well. Arthur Swan did an exceptional job.

Engaging, hard to stop listening.
An engaging hard to stop listening to audio novel which makes the time fly. Whether on the treadmill or driving I didn't want to stop listening. The twist and turns in the story were unpredictable. The details included make it believable. The author did his research. I am looking forward to the next novel.

Terrible
What disappointed you about Before the Sun Hits?
Firstly, the narration was very bland and boring. It was very difficult to listen too. Secondly, the science is WAY off. If you know anything about astrophysics, you'll cringe and refund the audio book immediately, unfortunately it doesn't really get into it for the first 2.5 hours.
Would you ever listen to anything by Arthur Swan again?
It isn't likely.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I honestly didn't give it a chance. I turned it off at about 2hrs 45min. I just couldn't stomach it.
