In this Pulitzer Prize finalist by award winning playwright Gina Gionfriddo, Suzanna sets up Max, her best friend, on a blind date with her husband's co-worker, the mysterious Becky Shaw. What follows is a series of cataclysmic events that forever changes all their lives. Mixing sharp wit and humor with the taut suspense of a psychological thriller, the critically acclaimed Becky Shaw is a comedy of romantic errors that will keep audiences guessing.

An L.A. Theatre Works full-cast performance featuring: Emily Bergl as Suzanna Slater; Matt Letscher as Andrew Porter; Marsha Mason as Susan Slater; Mandy Siegfried as Becky Shaw; Josh Stamberg as Max Garrett.

Directed by Bart DeLorenzo. Recorded before a live audience at the Skirball Cultural Center, Los Angeles, in February, 2011.

Reseñas editoriales

A colossally terrible blind-date setup leads to a disastrous series of events that will threaten to ruin the lives of everyone involved in this acerbically witty play - a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize - by Obie-award winner and Law and Order scribe Gina Gionfriddo. This LA Theatre Works production brings together a stellar cast in Emily Bergl, Matt Letscher, Marsha Mason, Mandy Siegfried, and Josh Stamberg, who bring a lively energy that perfectly complements Gionfriddo's cutting insights and hilarious one-liners. The cast performs with commitment and joy, making Becky Shaw a darkly clever dissection of modern relationships.

This is not the full play. In the written version, there are very important scenes, scenes 8, 9 and 10 I believe, that are missing in this version. I listen to this before reading it and didn’t like it at all. But it’s actually much better if it’s the full version, obviously. I still don’t love to play, but the full version is far superior as you can imagine.
