Publisher's summary

Life hasn't been quite the same for computer engineer Island Chaptal since March, when an OCD-ridden professional killer burst into her life to clean her bedroom and take her on a global chase for a legendary diamond. Sadly, the (hit) man doesn't just break bones; he breaks hearts, too.

Since then, Island has found solace in Alex - the perfect boyfriend - and Ruby, a software project about to revolutionize online banking security...for the worse. When Island's boss is found dead after allegedly using Ruby to steal a vast fortune, it's up to her to clear his name and recover the money. Someone else wants answers, though, and this time, Island might be in over her head.

From New York to Zürich, it's going to take the return of a cleaning expert, a mini-octopus, and Island's wits to beat Ruby. All while deciding whether to trust a man who already jilted her, or one who may have his own deadly secrets...

Love it twice!

This is an enjoyable series. The fun continues. The best line for this book… Island is dressed up to get in a club. The bouncers are Germany. She says to them, I am very rich, barely dressed, and very low self-esteem, can I get in? Her Germany is not her strong language.

Island is always pulled into situations trying to illustrate the best in someone. This time her, new boyfriend, Alex and of course March are off to find Ruby. All the Island and March stuff you normally expect to find is here. I have already given you one of the best lines.
The comedy continues in the juvenile manner in which Alex and March fight for the attentions of Island and the gift of her virginity. Of course, no one can do it better than March. Island is still throwing herself in front of guns to keep someone from getting shot. She gets her attitude on and gives March and Alex a much-needed check with all the tongue wagging that a pissed off woman can give. March and his OCD issues still offer many of laughs. March has made an impressive gesture in his affections for Island. I just hope that it does not lower his body count.

Hilarious!!!

This is absolutely one of the funniest series I have ever listened to. The writing is outstanding and the narrator couldn’t possibly be any better for the voice of Island! The narrators comedic timing and enunciation just really brings the humor out. I honestly don’t know if I would like it nearly as much if I read it myself so I will keep waiting for the audiobooks to come out! I hope to hear much more from this author and especially this series!!!

Caribbean needs work

Story was as good as the first. So was narrator. However, Caribbean accent was terrible. Narrator should spend more time in Jamaica.

Killers and spies amidst lukewarm romance

The book soars when it focuses on the assassins, spies, action and death. Just like the first book, some of the chapter lead-in quotes are hilarious. But, the attempted love triangle was forced and unrealistic. The whole idea that Island would just stumble through an investigation and let herself get hurt and abused was repugnant.
And how is it that topics like killers and hi tech espionage get meaty treatment while the supposedly hot chemistry between Island and her man never progresses beyond kisses? Two books in and zero hot scenes. Zip. Zilch. Nada.
If all you want is a comedy spy thriller, great. But if you crave the sexy reward that should come from a run-in with a tall, dark, and dangerous spy... seek your romance elsewhere.
As much as I liked the first book, this second one seems designed to ensure purchase of a third or fourth in order to, finally, get to consummation. Only by now, I’m afraid there will be no details. Frankly, I’m stopping now.

HIGHLY Recommend

My new favorite author. Why is Camilla Monk not a household name? I very rarely LOVE romantic comedies but this one is a favorite. 'Beating Ruby' is smart, sexy and witty. And once again the narrator Amy McFadden does a FABULOUS job with the wide array of accents. March and Island are unforgettable. And this installment features a second Alpha male, Alex! I rarely have time to binge-read a series, but I am going to read the third book as soon as I can. Highly recommend.

As good, or better, than Book 1!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! I am, of course, still quite smitten with March--OCD and all! But the man-eating platypuses...oh, my, what a pleasant surprise!

Second Installment

I really liked the first book in the series because it moved fast and you never quite knew what was going on. It was fun! This book continues the story of Island and March but it didn't keep my attention as much as the first. There was a lot more descriptive language over small details that really slowed the books progress. The story was less compelling and felt like it was written just to keep Island and March apart. I was disappointed but I am hoping it picks up in the next one.

Amazing as expected!

Just as wonderful as the other books in the series. I just keep listening to the Spotless series over and over. They are fantastic every time!
