Publisher's Summary

Propositioning the Iron Wraiths’ money man seemed like a good idea at the time….

Diane Donner - recently divorced pillar of polite society - is craving danger. She’s tired of playing it safe, and she knows just the sexy criminal motorcycle man to proposition for a good time. Problem is, she doesn’t actually know his name.

Jason “Repo” Doe never takes risks. So when the queen of local commerce walks into his club, looking to get risky and frisky, Jason knows the smartest thing to do is save himself a headache while saving the new divorcee from her worst impulses.

But then one thing leads to another, and the memory of just-one-night doesn’t feel like enough.

Theirs is a story with no future, because how can a dangerous criminal win (and keep) a queen?

Beard in Hiding is book 4.5 in the Winston Brothers series, is a full length contemporary romantic comedy about two lost souls in their 40s, and is a companion novel to the Winston Brothers and Solving for Pie series.

If you want to get the full immersive Green Valley world experience, I recommend listening to Truth or Beard, Beard Science, Engagement and Espionage, and Marriage and Murder beforehand. Beard in Hiding contains spoilers for these four books (in specific).

Freaking great!

Narrators Joy Nash and Chris Brinkley always a treat. This is probably my favorite story out of all the Winston brothers books. This has been the only book I could find so far with a survivor of DV finding love again. It’s a mature grown up, self assured love.
Only thing about it is you do really need to get through 3 books before it (“Beard Science”, “espionage and engagement” and “murder and marriage”) but all three of those books are great too so worth it.

Loved it!

I love the Winston Brothers stories and all the side stories of the sub characters. I’ve listened to so many books where I wanted to know what happens to the non main characters and this is perfect. Such a cute story. Love Chris Brinkley as the voice of all the Green Valley men and this one did not disappoint. Joy Nash is also the best female narrator of the series!

I can’t even

Just when I think I have read a better-than-the-last Winston Brothers series book, along comes another, better book. Surprising and charming is not how I would have described Diane Donner after reading Cletus and Jennifer’s story Beard Science (which was also so charming!!!), and I was avoiding this one like the plague because I didn’t care about Diane Donner. Thank the literary Gods for not allowing me to listen to myself.

Chapter Two. I can’t even. My husband was watching football, and I was listening to this book, Chapter 2(!), with headphones. He thought I was….ummmm…how shall I put this…having seizures.

I’m now going back to the beginning of the series to start my second immersion.

As with every book narrated by Chris Brinkley and Joy Nash, it was very enjoyable. Very, very enjoyable.

Thank you for sharing your storytelling talent!

Another win

I love everything Penny Reid writes. She's got such a great writing style.
I particularly enjoyed this book because in the previous books in this series you're introduced to Diane and Repo/ Jason and they're characters that at you want to hate, but you really can't because you just KNOW there's more to their stories. I'm utterly delighted that she wrote their story and I hope it gives you a many feelings as it gave me.

Retelling of Marriage and Murder

I thought this book would pick up where Marriage and Murder ended. Instead it ended in roughly the same place. Lame

Jason has my heart

super happy to have this short telling of Jason (Repo) and Diane.

I loved that it really told how the past dosen't define who a person is or and grow to be. It was a beautiful told story from both Diane's and Jason's point of view. I started this series with Knitting in the City and I am now completely wrapped up in the whole story from Chicago to Green Valley.

So happy to read a love story of older folks falling into love. That’s real life, it happens all the time.

Penny Reid has done it again! This love story spoke to me for various reasons. The way Diane and Jason aka Repo slowly fell into love. Besides their one night stand, a year later they’ve become friends. Their individual past experiences in love and how it shaped their way of thinking and their decision making going forward. Even the way they loved each other. Good story, now, where’s the continuation?

Fan for life!
