Another Hawthorn Bites the Dust

Another fun story for the Hawthorns! I was a little surprised this wasn't going to be June and Keifer, but I'm glad Jerrad made the cut because we get to have a fun story with young Piper in it!
June and Jerrad were fun together! After some misunderstanding about who is staying where, a snow storm keeps the two (plus Piper!) together. I really liked their chemistry, and how there wasn't awkwardness with June and Piper. Plus, Piper was able to be included enough (not just talked about in an abstract sense), and wasn't a 40 year old in disguise. She got to be a kid having a fun time and wanting a maternal figure in her life. Jerrad was a bit more self contained. He did everything for Piper, so he has to learn to open his (and Piper's) world to having June in it in more than a brother's best friend capacity.

Overall, it's a fun read/listen. There are visits from characters in the previous book, and some hints at who will be in future books in the series.
Sometimes the antics of the June and Jerrad seemed a bit out of character for people in their mid/late twenties, but alls well that ends well, so I just rolled with it.

This story has some swearing and steamy scenes. It's told in dual POV, with June and Jerrad getting their innermost off limits thoughts being shared with the reader/listener.

I really liked the narrators! They each do a great job voices the characters and bringing them to life, making them seem real and relatable. I listened at 1.15x speed.

Love it!

The narration is perfection! I could listen to these two all day. June and Jared have known each other forever but never thought of each other as more than friends. A little forced proximity opens a door neither expected. Add in a 4 year old and these two experience a life they both have only dreamed of. I absolutely love this book and Jared and Junes HEA. The Hawthorn series has fast become my favorite by this author.

Adorable story

June and Jarred are featured in the second standalone addition to the Hawthornes series. There is a lot of tension with this couple. This is a steamy romance with an amazing sense of family. This is a brother's best friend/ single daddy romance. It is a very adorable story especially with Piper included. The narration made for an easy listen. I especially enjoyed the dual narration.

Loved it

Another masterpiece of the Hawthorne family. Piper steals the show and find her way into everyone's heart.

So happy I was crying as the epilogue was read. The narrators are perfect for this book.

Loved the dual narration from Melissa Connell and Scott R. Smith

June finds herself with no job, sacked as a nanny for something she did not do, also with no place to live as she has rented her house out for the next two weeks. Keifer her friend offers her his family cabin, he drops her off . When a set of lights appear she thinks it might be Keife. Instead of Keifer it is his brother Jarred and his daughter Piper. Jarred has gone to the cabin for him and his daughter to spend some one-on-one time together. June tells him that she would leave the next morning so that he could have the cabin to himself with Piper. But a snow storm has started meaning , June can not leave since they were snowed in. She comes up with things for 3-year-old Piper to do to keep her busy. Jarred starts to see June in a different way and wants her but after what his ex-wife did to him, he doesn't trust anyone to no leave him so he doesn't get involved with anyone. The more time he spends time with June, he finds it hard to stop thinking about her. Things happen between them and they end up sleeping together.
We have drama, angst, emotions and romance.

Juniper and Jerred

The audiobook of this story was awesome! It was a super sweet story! Juniper has been a part of the Hawthorn family forever as best friends with the youngest son. But after being trapped in a cabin with the eldest Hawthorn, Jerred she sees him in a new light and falls in love with him. While Jerred escapes to the cabin to spend quality time with his young daughter, he realizes that Juniper has grown up. Love the family dynamics and the story.

Daddy Jarred 😍

Each of these Hawthorne men are impressive! I love what an attentive father Jarred is and Piper is just the sweetest little girl. Juniper was a great pick for the love interest and adored how amazing of a friendship her & Keifer have.

good read

Juniper (June) loses her job and needs time to recover. Her best friend Keefer offers his family's cabin to her. Jarred (Keefer's older brother) and his daughter Pipper end up snowed in were they grow their friendship and possibly more.

Sweet story!

Juniper Reed has been best friends with Keifer Hawthorn since they were in kindergarten. She knows that she can turn to him for anything and she needs him now. She's just been fired from her nanny job and she needs some place to live, so Keif suggests that she stay at his family's cabin, Hawthorne Haven, for a few weeks or until she finds a new place to live. What Kieffer couldn't know is that his older brother, Jarred, often uses it as a getaway for himself and his precocious 4-year-old daughter, Piper. Piper's mother decided she no longer wanted to be a wife and mother, and Piper can't get over the sting of being abandoned by her mother. With both June and Jarred spending a few weeks in close proximity, this could be the worst or best vacation ever. When a massive storm blows through, passions flare, but they have to be hidden because Piper can't know that they've been together. The last thing that they can afford is to hurt her best friend Kieffer. This is where Jarred began to fall apart out of guilt or self-loathing because he decided that he had to push her away, and push her away is exactly what he did with cruelty and by lashing out. It was so over-the-top and I didn't think he could ever redeem himself. Piper saved the day with her unconditional love of June, and Jarred's siblings let him have it in no uncertain terms. They had a happy ending, albeit a little rushed, but I truly enjoyed the story.The narration was beautifully done by Melissa Connell and Scott R. Smith. Their dynamic voices and inflection, along with the perfect pace, brought each character to life with unique personalities.  

Fantastic!

This story was great. Was well written, it just draws you in. Their relationship from beginning to end of book was sweet, spicy, and heartfelt. I look forward to the next book by this author.
It was also read well. The readers did a wonderful job.
